Can You Dance to This?

Not all music is associated with ballroom dancing.

Logan knocked on the door to Roman's room.

"Roman? Are you decent?" he asked.

"Yes, come in, Geek Charming," he heard from the other side of the door.

As Logan entered the room, he started to say something, but then was cut off by the activity in the room. He wasn't surprised by the fact that his boyfriend was ballroom dancing with an imaginary partner, but the fact that he was doing so to the song "Real Gone," and adding a few hip shakes and dips for good measure.

Logan put his hands together, pointed them upwards, and then pointed them towards Roman before saying, "boi... friend, what do think you're doing?"

Once the song was done, Roman turned to look at Logan.

"What does it look like? You were busy and dancing with a mannequin was too weird, so I had to dance with Midair," the Prince answered.

"No, no, not that. You weren't dancing to anything classical or romantic. Even if it wasn't a crowded area, wouldn't ballroom dancing to hypothetical club music that is normally associated with people getting drunk on expensive drinks that may or may not have been tampered with, and jumping up and down due to the lack of space seem a bit contradictory?" the teacher rambled.

Roman summoned a dictionary in his hands and skimmed through various pages before looking up at Logan as if he suddenly understood the confusion.

"Hey, I'm the creative side. I can create ways to ballroom dance to various types of music and put my own spin on it."

"I feel like that would be a rough task, even for you."

"You want a bet?"

"Sure. I'll choose a song at random and if you somehow find a way to associate it with ballroom dancing, you'll do my make-up."

"Deal. And if I struggle too much with this task, you can give me a classroom lesson about any topic you think I need help with."

The two shook hands to seal their deal before going to Roman's phone and scrolling through Spotify. As he looked through the songs in Roman's playlist (some Logan was familiar with, some he wasn't), he finally pressed the "Shuffle Play" button after noticing he was taking so long scrolling. As Logan heard the beginning of the song, he figured it wouldn't exactly be expected to be a song fit for ballroom dancing, but was immediately dipped by his lover who greeted him with the smug expression on his face that Logan instinctively pretends he doesn't find handsome.

A few steps forwards for Roman and backwards for Logan manifested, and the unpredictability left Logan with no choice but to hold on to Roman and let him take the lead. As they continued on, Logan and Roman slowly forgot about the bet or the fact that someone could walk in on them or even the fact that they were dancing to Florida Georgia Line instead of Disney. A few twirls and hip shakes occurred without thought, and there were even a few times where they pulled away from each other while still holding each other's hand only for them to get close to each other again like red thread pulling them together.

As if too soon, the song ended and Roman waved his hand to pause the playlist. They gazed at each other's unique features and souls buried within copies of the same face, and it took longer then they'd like to admit to remember why they were dancing in the first place.

"So, does this mean I win the bet?" Roman asked.

After some thinking, Logan responded with "Actually, that was more of a stroke of luck. We might need to try dancing to several more songs for the sake of certainty," with a smirk indicating that they both knew the real motive.

They did some more improvised ballroom dancing to several more songs on the playlist that wouldn't initially be associated with ballroom dancing and came to the conclusion that, even though Roman technically won, they would both proceed with the forfeits, at least once they stopped sweating.
