Cinemas Review: 'The Spy Who Dumped Me'

Well to say that this movie met my expectations is an understatement. This movie blew past all my expectations. I definitely expected it to be cheesy and very low by cinemas standards, but it was anything but that. This film was a full blown comedy. It had amazing one liners, and so much comedy that people were rolling in the isles. By the end of the film, my side was hurting from laughing so hard.

I mean, come on, it placed third in its opening weekend! That alone is a milestone in itself considering that a lot of media outlets didn't think that this film was going to do very well, seeing as it had competition with Christopher Robin and The Darkest Minds.

Now for those of you who have not heard of this film, just a quick rundown of the main cast. It stars Mila Kunis, Kate McKinnon, Justin Theroux, and Sam Heughan.

Mila is, of course, the amazing actress who is the better half to Ashton Kutcher, and was amazing in That 70's Show and Bad Moms, just to name a few.

The fabulous Kate McKinnon is of course well known for her hilarious sketches on SNL. If you haven't seen her as Ellen DeGeneres or Hillary Clinton, you haven't lived!

Justin Theroux is most well-known for his place in the amazing Zoolander movies, and of course Wanderlust, both wonderful displays of his acting ability.

The last actor in this film is Sam Heughan, who is of course most well-known for his headlining role as Jamie in Outlander. This movie is his breakout role in a major film production. The casting was very well done and shined through on screen.

For a brief synopsis, this film is about two best friends, who choose to go on a wild ride together. Mila's character is dumped via text by her boyfriend (Theroux) and afterwards discovers that he is a spy. Upon learning of his true identity, it puts her and her best friend (McKinnon) in grave danger and they are forced to go to Europe to deliver a package to an unknown person in order to save humanity. Throughout the film, there are disasters, wrong turns, and hilarious antics that ensue. They don't know who they can trust, and they don't know what will happen with each choice that they make. The only constant person that is with them through almost every turn is Heughan. However, it's unknown which side he's on. You think you know who is good and who is bad, but in the end, you will be surprised. I know I was.

Each time they think that they are safe, something else goes wrong, and there are even some weird secrets that are shared, but through it all, the girls are always looking out for each other. The main characters are the epitome of true friendship, and I'm sure most of us have someone in our own lives that we can immediately think of that is always there for us.

To conclude, this movie is full of excitement, action, and hilarious laughs. It will make your sides hurt, and it will keep you guessing until the very end. It's a movie that you can go to with your best friend or your spouse. Either way, you'll have a great time and will never be bored. If you haven't seen it, go treat yourself to a comedic masterpiece. If you have seen it, then you'll understand this final line... You Have Big Doll Eyes.
