Thor of Asgard.

On social media, I get to interact with many cosplayers on either a regular or daily basis. Most of the time, I comment on how much I like their cosplays and seek advice from them. Before I headed off to GlitchCon, I got a chance to interview an amazing cosplayer named Wil Busbee. It was great knowing so much about him and why he's such a great individual.

Texxx-Man Cosplay: How long have you been cosplaying and how did it change your life?

Wil Busbee: I've been cosplaying for four years. It has made me happy and really increased my circle of friends. It's also been pretty expensive, but worth it.

What made you become interested in cosplay?

It was Thor that got me into cosplay. Friends started saying that I looked like him, so I tried my hardest to live up to his legend. Plus, I've loved comics all my life.

Out of all the cosplays you have done so far, which ones are your favorites and how long does it usually take for you to complete them?

My favorite cosplays so far are my current Infinity War Thor, Doctor Strange, and Wonderman. It can take months to complete my cosplays, working on them on off days.

Do you have a favorite convention memory?

One of my favorite convention memories was after Momocon 2017 when my friend, Jon-Carlo took me to a Brazilian restaurant in my own city and we had a fancy dinner in costume.

Which conventions would you like to attend in the future?

I'd really like to go to Denver Comic Con and San Diego Comic Con.

I know that you're a cosplayer in your 40s. What advice would you give to someone in your age group who might be interested in doing cosplay?

I'd tell people that it really doesn't matter what your age range is. That cosplay is for everyone, young or old. And it's all about having fun.

Do you have any cosplayers that you look up to and follow that has been an inspiration in your life?

So many that it's hard to name them all: @oldfashionnerd, @terrychango, @emerald_archer_uk, @thorofoz, @6_seasons_and_a_movie, @metahuman_activated, @spider_matt, and so many more.

Before I go any further, about two weeks ago was my four year cosplay anniversary and went on Facebook Live that day to thank everyone for their love and support of me. I'll have an article about that soon and list my favorite memories over the last four years. Cosplay has really brought me out of my shell and started attended conventions. I usually attend one or two of them a year, due to the fact a majority of conventions are not in my area and don't have anyone who's willing to take me to them. Hopefully, I'll be able to go to many conventions in the future and meet more cosplayers, especially the ones I follow online and never met before. I plan to work on many cosplays next year and looking forward to it. The theme for next year, just in case your wondering, will be "The 80s." I'll be cosplaying as some of my favorite 80s characters. Some of them will be mashups. If you would like to support me, I do have a Patreon page. You can donate as much as you want every month. That page will strictly be for my cosplay projects in 2019 and beyond. Just search for my name, Texxx-Man Cosplay. I thank Wil for taking the time to be interviewed by me. If you would like to follow his cosplay adventures online, he's on Instagram @thorgoldencub.
