Explaining Why Hela Was So O.P. in 'Thor: Ragnarok'

Still so darn handsome.

Thor: Ragnarok surprised us all this fall due to basically how underwhelming the last two Thor films were. I know, the first one wasn't that bad, but at the same time, it really wasn't that good either. So, the people at Marvel Studios decided to use Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic's God of Thunder as inspiration; along with a few other stories from the past. And Marvel delivered one of their finest movies to date with Ragnarok.

Now, one of the biggest complaints, or one I've heard enough of—was that Hela was simply too O.P. compared to everyone else. And many non-comic fans have no clue because Ragnarok did not explain this subject very well. I wasn't in the minds of the writers and directors, but I am huge comic nerd and I can explain that they actually did a tremendous job, well, if you know what you're looking for and have a comprehensive knowledge of Marvel Comics.

Firstly, Asgardians grow more powerful as they age. This is how she could smash his hammer in the beginning of the movie. And then, the main reason, she and Thor absorbed the Odin-Force. In the Marvel Universe, the Odin-Force is only second, maybe third, behind the Infinity Gauntlet and the Phoenix Force. Y'see, after Odin died, it was already bestowed upon the two of them.

Now, Hela's powers came directly from Asgard, in which she built with blood and gold. And Odin did this at first because he saw no other way. There have been little mentioned of the Odin-Force in the MCU, but I believe due to the evidence of the last three movies, it's comprised of two-parts: The land in which they called Asgard, and then, the people's faith in their ruler. It's why he became a benevolent King. Why else do you think Odin was so hard on Thor—he wanted him to become a good man so one day he could rule and be loved by the people? Asgard is a magical place, with magical people. That's why Odin told him Asgard is a people. He knew Hela would only care about death and destruction, and he needed his son to be more.

Now, since Asgard had so many years (like, millions and millions) the location will always be stronger than the faith of the people. Plus, Hela being the Goddess of Death. That's why Ragnarok had to end it all, or else, yeah, Hela would've murdered the Nine Realms. It's why Thor was still weaker, but grew immensely stronger once the people saw that he was trying to save them. The Odin-Force was inside him at Sakaar, but came alive in Asgard.

I believe this will play a vital role in Avengers: Infinity War, and the next phase of Thor films. He's going to become Unworthy because he lost he will lose his people after an attack by Thanos (How else did the Hulk smash into the Sanctum Santorum? Or Thanos needed a part of their ship.).

The next trilogy will have him on a search to bring Asgard back—and hopefully with the help of a Mighty Thor as he goes by Odinson now. Because it makes sense that after he lost most of his power, he'll try to get his hammer back, but finds out that he's no longer worthy, which will hopefully lead to a Mighty Thor. I know, Thor: Ragnarok is months away from being released on DVD, but before you make any nasty comments—rewatch the movie. I think you'll find that this was the MCU's intentions all along!
