Forget Fall Out Boy: The Japanese Ghostbusters Theme Is The Only One You Need!

As much as the original film (and sequel) were made by the stellar cast, there is no denying that Ghostbusters would have be nothing without its theme song and synonymous "I ain't afraid of no ghost."

Sure, the trailer may be the most disliked video on YouTube ever, but there is no denying that the all female Ghostbusters certainly has people talking. The writing is on the wall on whether the reboot film is moving too far away from the Bill Murray-packed campy-comedy from 1984, and we won't know until July 15. As much as the original film (and sequel) were made by the stellar cast, there is no denying that Ghostbusters would have be nothing without its theme song and synonymous "I ain't afraid of no ghost."

If you have heard the Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliot *reimagining* of the classic Ray Parker Jr. song, then you will have formed your own opinions. Not content handing the reigns to Parker, Sony pictures Japan have released their own campaign for the all-female 'busters and it is as amazing as we hoped!

Proving once again that Japan is the land of wondrous weirdness, a group of Japanese comedians have dressed in the beige jumpsuits for their own version. Tomochika, Oniyakko Tsubaki, Naomi Watanabe and Shizuyo Yamasaki dance along for four minutes of neon-trimmed madness and choreographed proton pack dancing. It is pure '80s electro at its best and does away with the Missy's blasphemous whoops and hollers!

For anyone not convinced, the figures speak for themselves - Fall Out Boy's song has 74,086 likes and a damning 79,881 dislikes, whilst the Japanese song has less views, but 1,114 likes and only 193 dislikes. Sadly, this version won't be included on the official Ghostbusters: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, but hopefully Japan will be erasing Fall Out Boy's version from existence to replace it with the more faithful homage to the original series.
