Just when you thought it was safe to back into the water, along comes Katie Price to launch her acting career. As strange cameos go, the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen in Scary Movie 5, Michael Jackson in Men in Black II, and Quentin Tarantino in any of his films are all up there. Well, the latest casting for #Sharknado might just top that. Spinning onto our screens in a flurry of teeth and fins for a fifth film (yes, they made it to five), Sharknado 5: Earth O is presumably aiming to bring in an audience of masturbating teens by adding glamour model #KatiePrice to its cast.
Price to meet you.
The Sharknado films are known for their unusual cameos from "stars" like Dog the Bounty Hunter, Kelly Osbourne, and an aged-up Frankie Muniz (God bless Malcolm), however, even by Sharknado standards, the inclusion of Price is an unusual one. Saturday Night Live star Chris Kattan revealed the news on his Twitter, sharing a snap of him and Pricey sharing an intimate moment on the set and accompanied by the words "kiss kiss" — rather you than me, Chris. The 38-year-old then posted a picture on her Instagram with the caption, "Loved my hair and make up today for my Hollywood first film."
Sharknado 5: Scraping the Barrel
Surely Price's foray into Hollywood will be a repeat of Paris Hilton's mercifully short stint in films — I mean, who could forget her in House of Wax — but who knows, Pricey could be the next Kim Basinger. Better get that Oscars polish ready for 2018, Katie.
With London-central filming, Tom Daley is among the other strange cameos in the fifth film, slipping on his tiny speedos and diving in against the weather-worn sharks. As for Price, the page-three girl-cum-reality star-cum-mother, is best known for her marriage to '90s popstar Peter Andre and that time she dressed as a unicorn for a photoshoot. Appearing in shows like I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here and Celebrity Big Brother, Price also tried to rival Tyra Banks with her own reality show, Signed by Katie Price, searching for the next big model.
Presumably washing ashore later this year, SyFy teased the film's ridiculous plot, which sees the Sharknado branch out to wetter climates and away from Tara Reid's bosoms, clearly into some more *erm* ample ones:
With much of North America lying in ruins, the rest of the world braces for the inevitable: a global sharknado. From London to Asia, South Africa to Mexico, Fin and his family must put a stop to the sharknados once and for all.
The fourth film cashed in on the Star Wars hype with the aptly named Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens, so expect the fifth film to desecrate more Hollywood franchises. London won't be the only city in the film's sights, promising that other countries affected will be Australia and (of all places) Bulgaria. Watch out, Kyle, you'll be next. Other Big Brother alumni Jedward featured in both the third and fourth entries of the film, so we can easily see them teaming up alongside Katie — I mean, why the hell not? There is no word on how big a part Price will play, or if she will make it out of the aquatic apocalypse alive, but if all else fails and London floods, at least her assets would help her keep her afloat.
