'Incredibles 2': My Reaction/Thoughts

Just My Thoughts on the Recent Film, 'Incredibles 2'

This is simply my reaction and thoughts on Pixar's Incredibles 2. These are just my opinions. If you haven't seen the movie yet, this will contain spoilers. With that being said, let us begin.

When it was announced that Pixar would be releasing a Incredibles 2, my initial reaction was not entirely positive. I enjoyed the original so thoroughly that a sequel sounded like something that may take away from the eminence of the original. The Incredibles was a huge part of my childhood and was very close to me, as I'm sure it was for many. Due to that, I am certain there was a lot of pressure for the creators of it's sequel to due justice to the original.

I have just recently seen the movie many weeks after it's release. Despite my initial response to it's announcement, I was keen to see it in theaters. I personally am a huge Disney/Pixar fan and knew I had to see it. It did take a while before I was able to make some coin and be able to afford a ticket which was a factor as to why I didn't see it opening week. Nonetheless, I did see it in theaters as I had originally wanted.

Going in, I had little to no idea of the main plot of the film. I did know a few little things due to spoilers and memes, but nothing that contributed to the main plot. A few expectations that I had were to see some awesome action scenes and the same lovable characters that I had once known.

Without going through everything that happened in the film, I will say this: it was really incredible. It most definitely did justice to the original and was very engaging to watch. I loved the reverse roles between Elastigirl and Mr. Incredible, where Elastigirl did the superhero work and Mr. Incredible was the caretaker of the children. I loved the short but fun scenes with the queen of fashion herself, Edna Mode and the unpredictability of Jack Jack's newfound powers. The jokes were funny and the action scenes were epic. The antagonist was spooky at times but not too spooky of course and was very fun. I did thoroughly enjoy myself while watching this movie.

I will admit when the movie began and the characters were brought to screen, I felt a bit teary eyed to see these wonderful characters back in action. I found myself cheering for when Frozone appeared on screen and when Mrs. Incredible used her powers again. This goes to show how long I've waited to see what they did when the Underminer appeared and to simply see them on screen again. Disney/Pixar is actually quite genius to be taking such loved characters with emotional attachment from their fans and making sequels. This almost ensures that even if a sequel isn't necessarily what people may want, they will still go see it due to that emotional attachment.

Although the movie was super fun, I do (of course) have some complainants. The plot itself was quite predictable. The person that is trying to "help" them is actually trying to destroy them? Big shocker. There were still some fun original surprises to the plot but a lot of things you pretty much knew were going to happen. That, I suppose, comes with the expectations the fans have and the creators wanting to please them. Another thing I would like to address, is something I am actually extremely peeved about. (Now excuse my extreme unnecessary enthusiasm on the subject.) I had very few expectations for this film but quite possibly my biggest expectation was that they must include the little boy with bubblegum and the tricycle. I waited until the screen in the movies actually turned off just to see some sort of end credit scene with that little boy. They had many opportunities throughout the film to show him and have him say his iconic line. They could have at least gave him an end credit scene. He was an iconic part of the first film and I was set to see him again. I am very disappointed on that. I guess I will never see the "that was totally wicked!!" boy ever again.

Now, that concludes my thoughts on Incredibles 2. It was amazing and I really did enjoy it. I also really loved the Pixar short Bao in the beginning but that's for another time. If you haven't seen it, I highly suggest it.
