We've seen the logo, we've seen the suits, now it's time to get the feels for the ultimate villain throwback from our childhood. Just released, we now have our first image of Elizabeth Banks's costume as Rita Repulsa in the Power Rangers reboot — and she's looking like one green, lean, mean machine!

The Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect star plans to conquer Earth In the upcoming revival of the '90s cult classic that follows the adventures of five superpowered teens. Banks tells People magazine that she's excited to play the memorable villain:

"It’s definitely a modern and edgy re-imagining of the original Rita Repulsa. We wanted to give her a backstory that connects her to the new Rangers."

But just what was it that drew the 42-year-old to the role of the Power Rangers' outer space nemesis?

"World domination – and being unpredictable as a character.
"I've never played a villain before."

Machiko Soga as the original Rita Repulsa.

Well, it certainly looks as if the new Power Rangers film will be distancing itself from the '90s version. The old Repulsa couldn't be further away from Banks's new rendition. Based on the Witch Bandora who appeared in Japanese television serial Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger, the American adaptation used footage of original actress Machiko Soga, with a badly dubbed voice from Barbara Goodson. Known for her ornate headdresses and Asian-inspired style, Rita Repulsa is clearly being taken in a darker direction by Lionsgate Films.

Sleek green headgear and those fearsome gold talons wouldn't look out of place on the main stage of RuPaul's Drag Race, but what do you think? Poison Ivy, Green Goblin? Let's hear your thoughts.

The Lionsgate reboot is directed by Dean Israelite and stars Banks, alongside Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger and R.J. Cyler as the Blue Ranger.

'Power Rangers' is set to hit cinemas in March 2017.
