'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' is the Mashup I Didn't Know I Wanted

I've watched my fair share of period dramas here and there. It was mostly to substitute for reading the actual book (which doesn't work that well, by the way) and to save time in general. In all that time I never once thought to myself, "you know what would make this movie pop? Zombies. Just a bunch of zombies in period dress going for the gold." Well, as it turns out someone did think of it because the trailer for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was released earlier this week. Check it out below.

Pretty wicked, right? The movie is based on the 2009 novel of the same name written by Seth Grahame-Smith who also wrote Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The movie itself has all the trappings of a serious period drama with good old fashioned head splitting madness. Lily James does a pretty good job of walking the line of a proper period role and chopping off heads and this might be where the film can make up for where Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter fell short. A lot of critics said that the movie had a hard time making the two genres coalesce.

It's a ridiculous premise to begin with, sure, but if the film doesn't take itself nearly as seriously as its predecessor was accused of, then I'm pretty optimistic about the film's success. I'm a dead sucker for zombie stuff though so I might be a bit biased.
