In the latest news to break from the set of Jumanji (2017), it appears as though production has been halted for an unknown cause. The length of the stoppage is undetermined at the moment but a member of the central cast, Kevin Hart recently sent out an a video through Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Instagram account, explaining what happened.

Yeah, it appears production was halted for Jack Black to finish his rice. Let the man eat. Maybe he was just really hungry or maybe he just needed a break.

In all seriousness, the production halt was likely due to the environment in which the cast of Jumanji is working in. While filming is taking place in a harsh jungle terrain, there are many obstacles the cast and crew are going to face filming in the harsh terrain. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson can attest to that notion.

Of course, filming will likely move through production without a hitch, a simple production halt won't hinder filming for more than a few days - as long as no serious injuries or liabilities have been incurred so far. Moving back to the plot of the film, we may already know some key details of where Jumanji is headed.

What we know so far.

In a time of reboots and sequels, we dread learning of a reboot being done on one of our favorite movies of all time, Jumanji but that may not be the case after all. That's not to say the new Jumanji film, starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black is going to be a reboot despite the film having a reboot vibe to it. The new Jumanji is expected to be more of continuation of the original film than a remake (we'll get back to that later).

Learning that Jumanji (2017) is going to be a sequel is quite a relief. With so many reboots going on, a Jumanji reboot is the last thing we need. A continuation of the story that began with Robin Williams in 1995 on the other hand, is exactly what we need to show the world that not every film needs to be rebooted. And of course, a continuation to the Jumanji story would be a fitting tribute to the late, great Robin Williams - the starring actor of Jumanji (1995).

Moving past the original, a tweet from Karen Gillan in Jumanji (2017) may have revealed a pivotal component in the sequel's plot.

Via Twitter

Gillan just tweeted out this image of herself as Ruby Roundhouse, alongside her cast on the set of Jumanji. The image itself is quite noteworthy, simply because it highlights the starring cast in some interesting apparel. Along with the peculiar apparel, Karen Gillan provides a particular hint to the clothing she's wearing, having a purpose in the film.

Jumanji! Yes I'm wearing child sized clothes and YES there is a reason! The pay off is worth it, I promise! #Jumanji

As to what Gillan could be referring to is unknown at the moment, but from the looks of what she's wearing, she found those clothes and they appear to be of a child's size. Did Gillan's character of Ruby Roundhouse swipe the pants off of a kid or is there a more interesting explanation for it?

Karen Gillan

It's possible Ruby Roundhouse (Karen Gillan) will be the character of most intrigue when details begin to emerge of the plot, mainly because it looks like Ruby is someone who has become trapped inside of the Jumanji board-game - similar to how Alan Parrish (Robin Williams) was trapped inside of Jumanji until Judy (Kirsten Dunst) and Peter Sheperd (Bradley Pierce) continued the game, freeing Alan in the original Jumanji film.

Will we learn of Ruby Roundhouse getting trapped inside of Jumanji like Alan Parish did?

In the scenario of Gillan's character being trapped in the game as well, that also means Alan Parrish and Sarah Wittle weren't the last to play Jumanji. Someone else found the game after them, and became trapped like Alan did - that person being Ruby Roundhouse. From the looks of it, Ruby is wearing the same clothes she was wearing when she found the Jumanji game herself. Does that mean the rest of the cast seen alongside Gillan have made their way into Jumanji as well?

If the new film does see the cast venture into the game of Jumanji, it may be out of happenstance or their adventure into the game may be initiated to rescue Ruby Roundhouse from Jumanji. Either scenario is possible, but with the image and tweet sent out by Karen Gillan herself, it's very likely that most of the film will take place inside the Jumanji game and Gillan's character of Ruby will be a resident of the Jumanji world for some time before Hart, Johnson, and Black's characters find their way into the game.

Is the Jumanji sequel taking notes from the Animated Jumanji tv-series, of 1996?

With the possibility of the entire cast venturing into the Jumanji game, it also brings up the question of how they wound up there. Does someone find the game and begin it jokingly, only to find themselves trapped like Alan was? Who knows how the plot will turn out but it looks like the Jumanji sequel is taking a note from the animated Jumanji series, by venturing into the world of Jumanji.

In the animated Jumanji television series, Judy and Peter Sheperd venture into Jumanji to hang out with Alan Parrish, who is still trapped in the game. Throughout the progression of the animated series, Judy and Peter made many attempts to free Alan from the game but none were successful until the final episode which saw Alan finally freed from Jumanji.

Taking into account the possibility of the animated Jumanji series having some influence on the Jumanji sequel, Ruby Roundhouse could be mirroring the Alan Parrish of Jumanji animated.

In comparison to how Alan Parrish was trapped in the game and up to the Sheperd siblings to get him out, it looks like the same type of story will be told for Gillan's character of Ruby Roundhouse in the Jumanji sequel. Do you think the Jumanji sequel is going to take place entirely inside of the Jumanji board-game itself? Or will the main cast venture into the game to save Ruby Roundhouse? Jumanji (2017) is scheduled for a premiere date of July 28, 2017. The new film stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, and Kevin Hart.
