Reebok 'Stomps' Hopes Of Nabbing Iconic Alien Shoes!

As April 26 celebrated "Alien Day" (in reference to the franchise's planet LV-426), fans of the outer space horror were hopeful to nab themselves a pair of limited edition Aliens trainers. Nike announced their lace-up trainers to commemorate Back to the Future day, so not to be outdone, Reebok followed suit for "Alien Day."
Based on Sigourney Weaver's stomper boots from the 1986 sequel Aliens, a Reebok design saw calf-high boots with three velcro straps, a bright red tongue, and grey accents — a snip at just $175. The media and fans were abuzz about the possibility of kicking Xenomorph ass with their own pair, but you had to be quick. There were exactly 38 minutes to grab yourself a pair of Ripley's kicks before the limited edition run of shoes ran out.
However, it wasn't just crashing shopping carts and freezing websites that had facehuggers angry. Reebok came under further fire for its apparent sexist sizing of the shoes. With Ellen Ripley being one of cinema's strongest females, it seems odd that the shoe giant wouldn't cater for the fairer sex. Fans were outraged that shoes listed on the site only ranged from men's sizes 8-12.
A media backlash ensued and a Reebok spokesperson has since said:
The Alien Stomper was miscategorized on our US website as a men's shoe. While size availability varied by market, the Alien Stomper is a unisex style and was produced in sizes (US Men's) 3.5 – 12, which is a typical size range for a unisex model.
This still wasn't enough, with many claiming that at no point did they see any size lower than a men's 8 listed on the Reebok website!
For those lucky enough to purchase a pair of the stompers, you can look forward to wearing a piece of cinematic history. Sadly, for the rest of us it's time to trawl the internet in vague hopes of life out there! Just minutes after the shoes sold out, they were already popping up on auction website eBay for upwards of $800. It almost makes the anger burst from your chest like a John Hurt cameo!

Sylvester was a Merrie Melodies canine Sylvester, the Cat, is a beloved Looney Tunes character who debuted in March 1947 in the animated short Life with Feathers. The iconic Mel Blanc once said that he enjoyed voicing Sylvester, one of his favorite characters. The cartoon short that was near and dear to Blanc's heart was Bird's Anonymous which starred the popular cat.
