Binge worthy Netflix shows

It's recorded that the average person spends an hour and 11 minutes watching Netflix. If you have Netflix then you probably know the endless cycle of finding a good Netflix show only to finish it in a week, and spend another hour scrolling through your recommendations. I've had Netflix for about 5 years now and during this duration I've watched many shows that I've loved and finished and others that are still in my continue watching category. Of course I am not you so you may not want to watch these shows, but if you're someone who clicked on this because of the Gossip Girl photo then you're in the right place.

'Gilmore Girls'

A classic witty favorite Gilmore Girls started in 2000 and had a 7 year run. The show takes place in a small town Stars Hollow Connecticut and focuses on single mother Lorelei Gilmore (played by Lauren Graham), and her teenage daughter Rory (played by Alexis Blendel.) Through witty banter and eating too much at coffee shops you're immediately connected with their close mother daughter relationship that transforms as Rory gets old. If you love very unique and out of the box characters this show is definitely for you. It's hard not to fall in love with at least one character from the show whether it's enthusiastic Suki (played by Melissa Mccarthy) or nerdy Laine (played by Keiko Agena.) The show has 7 seasons and each season has about 20 episodes so this is a good choice if you want a show to watch over a longer period of time.

Rated TV-PG

'Madmen'

For the lovers of period periods and work drama there is Madmen. The show takes place in the 1960s and is centered around relentless salesmen Don Draper (played by John Hamm) who spends his time lighting cigarettes and selling marketing campaigns to the fat cats of New York. When he isn't string drama at his firm he's at home with his wife Betty Draper (played by January Jones,) and his two kids Sally and Robert. The show is truly interesting and at first I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it, but I finished it and still want more. The series has won many awards, and it has 6 seasons with about 12 episodes per season.

'Shameless'

A raw and hilarious comedy Shameless is about a struggling family in the South Side of Chicago. The show is a remake of of the critically acclaimed British series and has 8 seasons with 12 episodes each. William H. Macy stars as Frank Gallagher an alcoholic single father of 6 who is too busy in bottles and scamming to parent forcing his oldest child Fiona Gallagher (played by Emily Rossum) to be the lead of the household. With a theme song where the baby is brushing his teeth in the toilet the Gallagher family is the definition of Dysfunctional, and as much as I felt bad for what they have to go through the show is hilarious. There isn't a dull moment in their crowded household and you will finish each episode wanting more,

Rated TV-MA

'Hart of Dixie'

This another choice for people enjoy small towns and witty one liners. In Hart of Dixie med school graduate Zoe Hart (played by Rachel Bilson,) moves to the small town of Bluebell Alabama which is a big culture shock as she's used to the New York city lifestyle. She struggles to gain acceptance and be liked as one of the town doctors, but eventually finds her place and makes friends, and boyfriends. The 4 season series displays the charm and drama of south with love triangles, floral dresses, and elderly woman gossiping outside bakeries. If you and your friends love fighting about which guy is right for the protagonist this show is definitely for you.

Rated TV-14

'Jane The Virgin'

A borderline soap opera, Jane The Virgin centers around a young women Jane Villanueva who is still in college and happens to be committed to being a virgin. She gets accidentally impregnated bringing on a series of challenges and events. Each episode has its own jaw dropping moment whether it involves infidelity, unsolved murder, or just a new relationship. The series takes place in Miami and each character brings their own story that turns the plot into a game of twister. If you love being on the edge of your seat and tilting your head out of pure confusion this series is for you. The series has 4 seasons at the moment and around 21 episodes each. The show is hard to spread out over a long period time because trust me you're going to want to know what happens next.
