When James Manigold released Logan as a hard R film, there was something magical that happened within the movie industry, and there's no doubt that fans of characters such as X-23, The Watchmen, and even Legion opened up a door of possibilities. With Todd McFarlane having announced not long ago that his script for the upcoming Spawn Reboot had finally been completed.

If you've been wondering if there hasn't been much news about the movies progress since that announcement, you'd be right until recently. It's recently surfaced that Todd McFarlane has come up with some interesting stipulations behind the movies launch. That's exactly what we're about to get to as we all have been awaiting the movies future as it prepares to head to a studio if they meet his requirements.

So What Exactly Is Todd McFarlanes Demands?

When it comes to characters such as Spawn there's no doubt the creator wants to hold onto his creation. In a recent interview with SyFy Wire, Todd McFarlane announced that he was ready to help the movie go forward, but with the inability to budge from his stance.

It was also announced in the interview that he wants to direct, produce, and even oversee the entirety of the movie from start to finish. Because of his inability do so, however, has prevented any studios from financing his film, and helping it move forward. You can read below what Todd had to say about the movies current state.

"So I'm going, I'm not selling it but if you want to see the rough draft, I'll send it to you. But just so everybody knows, I write, produce, direct, non-negotiable." - Todd McFarlane, Spawn Reboot Interview

There's no doubt because of those very words that no major studio has picked up the film, that they've hesitated even considering it, and helping it come to life. If there's any resaon why this should be the way it is, it's definitely because Todd McFarlane knows Al Simmons aka Spawn better than anyone else. While it's hard to see a studio picking up the movie soon, there's no doubt that Todd McFarlane has his heart int he right place, and that he will get funding from somewhere.

It's Estimated That the Spawn Reboot Can be Shot for Roughly $10 Million

Todd McFarlane has been adamant about what he expects for the movie. While it does seem that he's firm on what's going to happen, he has been adamant that the new movie will be a anti-hero horror film. It's a movie that could very well end up as a big franchise for a studio that picks it up, and with Fox already holding down Deadpool and Logan. There is now a window for a studio willing to take the risk to pick up the film. You can see what he said down below about the budget and why he wants to take the wheel for this one.

"I wouldn't ask to be a newbie director on a script that was going to have an eighty million budget for it. Why? Because as a CEO of my own corporation, I wouldn't take that deal. I wouldn't stick out $80 million and go, 'they're going to put a rookie and he's going to basically be in charge of it.' So I've created this tight little one that I keep saying, I think I can shoot it for ten."

If done right, there's no doubt that this could very well be one of the best movies to date out of the Spawn franchise. With Todd McFarlane at the helm, we can only assume that Spawn could very well strike up a decent following if not huge-success in the theaters following of Deadpool and Logan. It will definitely pose up some hard criticism if not done properly as a horror-action film and follow its source material, which the 1998 movie seemed to stray from. The movie is perfect due to the fact that hard-R movies are highly anticipated.

This fact is heavily proven by the high anticipation for 2018's upcoming Deadpool movie that recently had some set photos leaked. If done right, Spawn could prove to be a big hit, and one that could easily rival its competition. With San Diego Comic-Con just down the road, who knows what's coming up, and what we can expect.
