With time ticking until Tom Hardy's 'Venom' movie gets underway, Ruben Fleischer and Sony have been hard at work filling spots they need to get started. Among those spots sits a possible hero gone villain out of Star Wars: Rogue One actor Riz Ahmed who played Bodhi Rook. According to Hollywood Reporter, it looks like the once Bodhi Rook actor won't be taking on the role as Cletus Kasady who turns into Venom's arch nemesis Carnage in the upcoming film.

Because of this news, it's a bit evident that Venom vs Carnage may no longer be the Tom Hardy led Venom movie's name, but rather just Venom when it hits theaters next year. With the news also rumoring from sources that Carnage isn't the main antagonist role, it leaves a giant question as to whom Ahmed could be playing, especially since the Spider-Man spin-off films are no longer apart of the MCU according to Sony.

It still doesn't help that Kevin Feige isn't going to be remembered for his reaction to Amy Pascal. This news also means actor Tom Holland won't be in the film as Peter Parker in the Venom movie. So lets take a look at who this actor could be taking the role of!

While the rumor is in the air that Cletus Kasady won't be the tantalizing villain we need to be, there's still a need for the mayhem Carnage causes. For those unfamiliar with the Carnage symbiote or Cletus Kasady, lets take a quick look at him.

Carnage above all is one of the most violent and goriest of all of Venom and Spider-Man's foes. In human form, he's known as Cletus Kasady, a deranged psychopath who has no qualms about killing someone for looking at him wrong. Fuse that with the naturally violent nature of the Klyntar symbiote and you have a match made in Hell as they ramp their hosts natural tendencies up from a 10 to a 1,000.

If that's not enough, Carnage has also been able to throw Venom into time out more than once, which has put Eddie Brock as well as Peter Parker into some tough spots. Lets just hope Carnage doesn't wake up Phage, Lasher, and Scorn with the ruckus he may cause in Manhattan.

Mysterio

While it's a long shot that Sony and Marvel will do a Sinister Six-themed movie, the chances are always there, and what better way to start if off than having Venom take on Mysterio? Quentin Beck isn't just your average Joe working a 9–5 job. Instead, Beck is a man who has great talent when it comes to the use of technology and the art of hypnosis, he has proved to be a rather powerful adversary, and one that has almost triumphed in defeating Spider-Man more than once.

While Venom will prove to be a worthy adversary, there's no doubt what-so-ever that Ahmed would be the perfect person to portray the character. After all, in Star Wars: Rogue One, he was the man who saved the day by allowing the Rebels to complete their mission on the planet of Scarif. Can we say it wouldn't be too far off to see him as one of the great foes in comic book history?

"Bob" Of The Ararat Corporation

Bob... We all like to laugh at the guy named Bob, right? Well, this guy, this Bob. He was laughed at too much. The Ararat Corporation "Bob" runs? They aren't the kind of guys you want to meet. These guys are the worst of the worst. If you know your Marvel comics, you know the Life Foundation was a scary bunch. Y'know, with the whole "the world is ending" spiel.

What if it came out that "Bob" and his lackeys decided that they want to actively seek out the destruction of the human society? Well, there's one thing that could help them complete their goal: the Venom symbiote. While "Bob" isn't exactly human, these little tiny spider robots aren't the greatest people at all. Instead, they'are actually lunatics who want to destroy the world and Venom would be the perfect tool to do it. After all, they tried once, and almost succeeded. Really, they did.. Almost.

Eugene 'Flash' Thompson (Agent Venom)

As we already know, there's no doubt that Sony is deciding to move Venom away from the MCU. Shame-shame, right? However, this does open up a lot of room for possibilities, especially if we decide to get another chance at another host for the Venom symbiote. This is the chance we get with Flash Thompson who eventually becomes a host to the creature. While Flash is a rather large jerk, there's a lot of room for growth with the symbiote itself.

After all, we don't know just how long Tom Hardy decides to play Eddie Brock or if he decides to even stick around for a few movies after Venom. Remember Bane? So do I... So do I my friends, but on the bright side, Flash Thompson will offer a great chance for Sony to try again, assuming Venom doesn't sell like hot cakes. With Flash becoming Agent Venom later in the comics, lets assume the same can happen in the movies.

Closing Thoughts

There are certainly a lot of characters to choose from in the Marvel comics. With his talent, Riz Ahmed could play quite a few of them, but with Sony's history of trying to keep things simple, our best bet is that he's still going to be playing Cletus Kasady or a new rendition of the red-skinned symbiote that makes Venoms life Hell.

However, if he doesn't, lets just hope his role is something worthwhile and gives him quite a bit of value as one Marvels newest actors. Assuming he takes the job that is. Venom starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock is set to hit theaters on October 25th, 2018.
