Once upon a midnight dreary while I pondered weak and weary/

over many spooked and saturnine spirits in a ballroom bash/

While I searched and wrote in blogging, with the ideas suddenly popping/

I parodied a poem, hopefully not slapdash or ho hum/

to talk about the hauntings in the dancing hall. Who danced with the scariest lore? And who, like the Raven says, is Nevermore?

Geeking Out

I kid you not; Jane Austen has a quote that says, “dancing is the first step towards love," I like to think about that against the show’s latest track record in relationships. Several of Dancing’s own pros have gotten engaged and/or married over the last year or so. So, no pressure to make the growing sparks between Alexis and Alan all the rage! Their chemistry has been praised for over a week now, and Alan taking time to consider things, and hesitating when getting put on the spot makes me think something real could be there. Conversely, the fact that the hosts made a point to mention what has ended up in the open makes me think the show’s production is trying to use the possibilities to evoke votes or interest on their behalf. After all, one of the best dancing duos this season were in jeopardy for a second week in a row. Keeping them on means their relationship can keep getting airtime. Similar tactics were used in The Hunger Games when you think about it…

Mary Lou’s and Sasha’s routine had a lot of production about it with the moving set pieces, and more importantly had the content to satisfy the judges, though not enough fine-tuning in some of the moves. In their standings, she has almost always been just outside the top three, and the contenders ahead of her would prove rather formidable to compare against. But I think Mary Lou had a great personal journey through the show more than anything, and had a great start to say the least. But had she made it at least one more week, I would’ve put money on her dancing to “Country Roads”…

What's Next?

America’s ballroom goes west against the Country Music Awards next week with boondocks, backwoods, and cowboy themes to boot. Team dances are slated to be soon as well.
