So, this movie starts off by telling the legend we all know and love of Ariel. But this time, it's about a girl named Elizabeth with some different plot twists. She and Eric don't actually get together, which is a bummer, but the person she does fall in love with (why she wants to get legs) ends up falling in love with someone else and marries her instead. So Elizabeth is stuck on land. This time, though, she doesn't give her voice in exchange. She gives her soul and it has been stolen by a ring master at a circus and she is stuck with him.

Told in a story-like fashion, like Princess Bride, the story ends up following a journalist and his niece who follow a story about a mermaid and an elixir at a circus. The reason for searching for this elixir is the niece has some sort of illness and they are wanting to heal her in some way and have heard good things about the healing elixir. And the mermaid story is a bonus for his career. The boss is really nice. Surprisingly...

So they travel from England to Mississippi in search and build up a shop in a cute ole' woman's house. They start to meet people from the town and get to know what happens at the circus. It starts to get cheesy once they meet the circus characters. But they meet the mermaid and the niece immediately has a bond with her. Apparently, she has the heart of a mermaid.

So as the story develops we understand the plot more and why Elizabeth is stuck as a mermaid to a ring master, who turns out to be some sort of wizard. The plot is pretty simple: bad guy has something the good guys want. There are cool side characters we don't really have development for and then a love interest, both having different motives for knowing one another.

I thought that all the main characters were really cute and had a fun time telling this rendition about TheLittleMermaid, but it was a little strange to see these actors acting badly. The side characters were even worse. They were acting so badly. It's like the casting director didn't know they sucked or that they've never had an acting job in their life.

I just hope that this movie gets accepted for how it is. The acting wasn't the best and neither was the story, but it was a cute family movie that kids will love. Also Poppy's British accent is like butter. It sounds beautiful and mesmerizing.

I just hope that Will and Poppy get better gigs after this. Usually after a badly acted movie like this, actors stick to those kind of movies, so I hope they bounce back!

So it's a cute story and I love all the actors involved, but it's honestly a super low budget movie so the acting isn't the greatest I've ever seen. I've seen both William Moseley and Poppy Drayton do a lot better, but it was a fun, cute, independent movie that the kids will love. It's also pretty cheesy at some parts and they do rush certain scenes unfortunately so the characters aren't as fully built as I would've liked them to be.

The things I don't get are that the niece spoke American English and the uncle and the mermaid have British accents and the ending... who is the grandmother????

Quality wise, I give it a 6/10, but story wise I give it an 8/10.
