Biology class was never my favorite, but after seeing Christopher Stoll's artistic representation of what the anatomy of some of our favorite Pokémon could be. You may recognize Stoll's name from the worldwide attention he garnered with his rendition of the Disney Princesses as Avengers characters.

Since Stoll released this collection, he's published 3 different illustration books through Kickstarter, and following the successful launch of Pokémon GO last year he began developing a new Pokémon anatomy series. In the series Stoll takes a stab at what our beloved Pokémon's inner musculature and skeletal systems could be. Take a look at a few of his pieces.

The Starters

We all faced the impossible decision of choosing our first Pokémon in Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow. We knew that our choice would ultimately determine our fate as a trainer, but perhaps knowing some of this information could have helped us decide who would join us on our first adventure.

Everything Else

Now that you've managed to select your starting Pokémon, the goal was to "catch them all" but after looking at some of the below anatomical drawings, perhaps you'll change your mind and not throw your Pokéball at these creatures.

In an interview with Bored Panda, Stoll reflected:

“I spend a lot of my time with the project trying to create fictional anatomy that is both interesting and plausible. A lot of Pokénatomy is based on the behavior and biology of real-world organisms. So for the sake of the project, I’ve found myself thumbing through books on botany, herpetology, metaphysics, and even embryology.”

The PokéNatomy book is now available. Previous Kickstarter project books now for purchase include other anatomical illustrations of fictional creatures: A Natural History of the Fantastic and The Feminomicon.
