'This Doesn't Bring Me Shame': Aaron Carter Comes Out as Bisexual in Latest Twitter Post
Aaron Carter finally opened up on Twitter about a personal issue that has been weighing on his chest for nearly half his life: being bisexual.
Last night was a special one for 29-year-old crooner Aaron Carter. It was the night he finally opened up to the world about a personal issue that has been weighing on his chest for nearly half his life, a personal burden concerning his sexuality and his identity. After close to 20 years in the industry, four albums, three EPs, dozens of singles, and close to a million followers, Aaron Carter comes out publicly as bisexual.
Finally Out Of The Closet
In a heartfelt letter posted late Saturday night on Twitter, Aaron discusses his early days in the music industry and the first time he found both boys and girls attractive. He was only 13 years old then.
He explains that he gave the feeling a lot of thought growing up, but "it wasn't until he was 17 years old, after a few relationships with girls," that he realized he was strongly attracted to males as well as females. When he was 17, he had an experience with a guy he'd worked and grown up with, an experience that presumably changed his life.
Identity Over Everything Else
Carter then goes on to say that "music has always been his temple," the one thing in his life that's been consistent and continues to transcend everything and everyone around us. For Aaron, the ultimate goal is satisfaction (presumably in terms of his sexuality and his identity), without which life just wouldn't be same.
"I never want to be a figure of disappointment," he writes, presumably with himself in mind, or his fans that might be going through the same everyday troubles. There is nothing in this world more valuable to a person than simply being comfortable with who he or she is, and Aaron knows that.
He ends the post by quoting English singer-songwriter Boy George:
"I've never felt as though I didn't belong, I just acted as though I did."
Well, Aaron, we're glad you finally feel like you truly belong and that you don't have to act as though you do anymore (even when you don't). Kudos to you for being so brave and coming out!
