Tipping The (Grey)scales: Fans Disgusted By Most Graphic TV Scene Ever On 'Game Of Thrones'

Continuing from Game of Thrones' season premiere's "chamber pot" scene, it looks like showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were keen to top their disgusting duties.

Well, the second episode of Game of Thrones certainly had everyone talking, and apart from the usual blood and guts, there was a bucket load of puss to pass the time. Away from Ironborn taking a knife to the genitals or Grey Worm and Missandei bumping a lack of genitals, Season 7's "Stormborn" will undoubtedly be remembered for a gross-out scene at the Oldtown's Citadel.

The season may have only just begun, but it looks like Samwell Tarly's trip to the Citadel has been a pretty gruesome excursion so far — it certainly isn't like any library I've ever been to. Continuing from the season premiere's "chamber pot" scene, it looks like showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were keen to top their disgusting duties.

Jor' kidding right?

This season of #GameofThrones opened with the convenient reveal that Ser Jorah Mormont's grisly case of greyscale had landed him at the Citadel. Jorah the Explorer was given a grim prognosis by Jim Broadbent's Maester Marwyn, but Samwell Tarly wasn't so quick to give up on the son of Lord Commander Jeor Mormont. Picking up an ancient book, the tenacious Tarly decided to try and cure Jorah himself. What came next was definitely not what we expected, and Thrones gave us a particularly graphic surgery scene. Sam quite literally peeled back the layers of Mormont's affliction and had us reaching for the vomit bucket.

It was a scene that wouldn't have looked out of place in A Nightmare on Elm Street, and was then coupled with the bilious/brilliant smash cut to someone eating a pie at the Inn at the Crossroads. Taking to Twitter, some fans said that they were brought close to vomiting during the descaling of Mormont's greyscale, and it certainly divided audiences across the Seven Kingdoms:

Ok can we talk about the scene change from Sam removing Jorah's greyscale to the guy taking a bite of his pie?? Absolutely disgusting— kbro (@kirstinbrown58) July 24, 2017

Jorah was infected with greyscale when helping Tyrion Lannister against the Stone Men back in Season 5. Since then, we have seen Jorah's disease slowly spread, but "Stormborn" unveiled the true extent of his sickness. For a show that is known for being controversial with scenes of incest, mass murder, and children being burned alive, was a bit of puss and blood really all that shocking?

With Sam tirelessly fighting in Jorah's corner, it looks like "Stormborn" was the start of a new chapter for Jorah and a new hope on the horizon, so let's hope the pain was worth it. However, it is safe to say that Jorah's grim greyscale gamble was not one to watch during dinner time!
