'Twilight' Remake?!

Should we or shouldn't we?

Art by a Fan of Twilight. I DO NOT OWN THIS IMAGE.

I love Twilight! I promise I do. I am one of the ones who actually read all the books before I ever saw the movies, which is why even though the movies were good, I think an entire Saga remake is in order. Before you say anything, here me out.

First of all let's focus on the major elephant-in-the-room: Edward and Bella. The characters in the books were pretty different than they were portrayed in the movies. Edward was a smart ass that actually had a sense of humor and was barely the brooding type. Bella was clumsy and an introvert but not nearly so awkward or unable to articulate her feelings. She was sure of herself and not gullible. I'm probably one of the few people that think all the actors in the movies were amazing.... Except Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. They are good actors, don't get me wrong, but let's face it, they portrayed Edward and Bella very very poorly.

Second is the factor of special effects. Nowadays special effects and the art that they can bring to fantasy movies is mind blowing! I would love to see a more artistic and smooth take on the Twilight Saga, and maybe even have a big time director behind all of them.

Third, I know Twilight is a young adult series, but when it comes to vampires, I honestly think there needs to be a bit more gore and a more adult feel to them. If they could tweak the storyline just a bit to put the characters maybe just starting college instead of yet another high school drama, I think that would be more fitting. Besides, there are plenty of 17 and 18 year olds in college. It wouldn't be much of a stretch. As far as the gore goes, vampires usually come with a lot of it, and making the audience feel torn about whether or not to love or hate the characters is an excellent way to keep them hooked.

Fourth, our makeup skills are so amazing now that you can't help but wonder at how much better the characters would look in a newer saga. As much as I loved the characters look in all 5 movies, they did have a caked on foundation look to them and I can't help but feel like we could do something better if given the chance.

I know we all have an opinion on Twilight and those of us that love it all have our favorite vampire and secretly love the fact that Anna Kendrick is playing a much different part than we see her in nowadays, but can you honestly say that if someone more in tune with who the characters really are played the parts you wouldn't be interested? I know I would be!

Of course there are many more good things about the movies than there are bad. All the other characters are very well played and are enjoyable to watch. With the exception of Mike's awkwardness. The music in all the movies was awesome and introduced me to a lot of bands I didn't know I would end up loving. The contrast between the melancholy feel and the bright, full of life sunshine after Bella has become one of the cold ones, is intriguing in its ability to snatch our emotions in such a subtle way. The small bursts of humor are more than welcome and complement the seriousness of the story line.

And of course, the love story. I love the conflict Bella has to go through. Choosing a life with someone she'll love and can be human with, have kids, grow old with, versus an immortal life with someone she loves more than anything and will never grow old but will see so much and experience so much with. Even though the books made me an Edward and Bella supporter, the movies made me love the thought of Jacob and Bella. It's a fire and ice story. One that had us all guessing at how it would end and who would end up where.

Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn part one and two brought us into a brand new story and a new take on vampires that was both intriguing and beautiful. Even people who never read the books or saw the movies know who Edward, Bella and Jacob are. It was a great love story and even though I would love a remake. I will admit I still revisit what we currently have. If you agree that a remake would actually be pretty great, let me know who you're dream cast would be!

Thanks for reading!
