It isn't too surprising to hear news of characters from the upcoming Doctor Strange film appearing in Avengers: Infinity War, namely Stephen Strange himself. While answering questions on the set of Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch let the matter of his part in Avengers: Infinity War slip. It may been unintentional but it doesn't seem like Marvel is trying to hide the fact of Cumberbatch's role in Avengers: Infinity War.

However, the details surrounding his inclusion in the film are unknown at the moment. Rumors and fan speculation over the past month have indicated that Stephen Strange will depart from his solo Doctor Strange feature with a particularly altered mindset.

After thwarting Mordo's attempt to steal the Eye of Agamotto / Infinity Stone, and learning of Mordo's intent to steal powerful mystical artifacts for his own nefarious purposes, Strange sets out to learn about the remaining Infinity Stones — and where they come from, despite not wanting to involve himself further in the conflict. Strange then decides to pursue the locations of the remaining Infinity Stones — in order to keep them from Mordo's grasp but to accomplish this, Strange will turn to the one Avenger who knows of the Infinity Stones, Thor.

Aside from the plausibility surrounding these rumors, there's been no confirmation yet. But considering that early screenings of Doctor Strange have already taken place, the word already might be out on Dr. Stephen Strange and how he falls into Avengers: Infinity War.

The aspect of Strange's comrades from Doctor Strange showing up are of much more interest. Considering the possibility of Doctor Strange concluding with most of the central cast still living, it's very likely that they'll show up alongside Stephen Strange when he makes his next appearance. And out of all Strange's cast-mates who could join him during Avengers: Infinity War, Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) is probably the likeliest.

Will Baron Mordo Follow Strange Into 'Infinity War'?

As of now, we don't know how Doctor Strange will conclude, but it's safe to say Baron Mordo's character will remain intact within the MCU. Mordo has such a rich comic history to be explored in future films, so Marvel would be dumb to have him meet an early death; won't happen.

That being said, we learned early on that Baron Mordo would not be a villain in the upcoming Doctor Strange film despite Mordo's comic origins depicting him as a rival/enemy to Stephen Strange throughout most of Marvel's history.

As for what's been revealed of Doctor Strange so far, Mordo appears to be an ally to Stephen Strange rather than an enemy — for the time being. However, with the likelihood of Mordo's character transitioning from ally to enemy being very high due to his comic-book counterpart being depicted as much, it's possible Baron Mordo's next appearance in the MCU will see him fully actualized as the villain he's depicted as in Marvel Comics.

Will Baron Mordo Become A Villain?

Along with Baron Mordo of Doctor Strange potentially mirroring his comic-book counterpart, it's very likely he'll confront Stephen Strange during Avengers: Infinity War. And if the rumors do prove to be true, Mordo's longstanding grudge against Stephen Strange might be resolved during Avengers: Infinity War while the Avengers wage war on Thanos and his minions.

Avengers: Infinity War is already stacked with super-fights we're waiting to see. Will we also see Stephen Strange take on his Marvel Comics nemesis? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
