After delivering one of the bestperformingsuperhero flicks of all time with this year's Wonder Woman, director Patty Jenkins is returning to the small screen and this time, she's bringing a handsome Hollywood talent along with her.

Jenkins is set to direct the pilot for TNT's upcoming six-part series One Day She’ll Darken, with the potential to direct additional episodes. Prior to becoming one of the most sought-after directors working today, #PattyJenkins directed a number of episodes for various TV shows, including Arrested Development and Entourage.

As if this news isn't exciting enough, the show will be a re-teaming of Patty Jenkins and Chris Pine, who portrayed the wondrously charming Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman.

The popular Star Trek actor is attached to star in all six episodes of One Day She'll Darken, which is inspired by the autobiography of Fauna Hodel. As a baby, Hodel was given away by her teen birth mother in 1949 to a black restroom attendant in a Nevada casino. An investigation into her past and true family brings her to George Hodel, a gynecologist practicing in Hollywood and, more importantly, a suspect in one of the most infamous unsolved murders in the United States: the 1947 killing of Elizabeth Short, a.k.a. the Black Dahlia.

Pine will appear as Jay Singletary, a Marine-turned-reporter who is looking for redemption after writing about Hodel. Joining Jenkins's creative team is Sam Sheridan, author of A Fighter’s Heart and The Disaster Diaries, who will write the script for the six-episode series with production set to begin in the fall.

Sarah Aubrey, the executive vice president of original programming for TNT, released a statement regarding the news and it proves that the network is immensely excited for this project. Aubrey praised Jenkins as a "phenomenally talented director" and continued to express her enthusiasm towards Sheridan and Pine:

"'One Day She’ll Darken' is a mind-boggling true mystery with unpredictable twists and turns and edge-of-your-seat chills. Sam Sheridan, an expert storyteller, has delivered scripts that entertain, frighten and tell tales of redemption and a powerful search for identity...""Chris Pine has wowed us with so many of his performances, and knowing how multi-dimensional his character is in 'One Day She’ll Darken', we are so lucky to have an actor as talented as he is to lead this cast.”

What Does This Mean For Our Favorites Returning To Wonder Woman 2?

With the recent announcement made for Wonder Woman 2, which we'll see in 2019, one question remains: will working on this series potentially affect Jenkins and Pine's return to Themyscira? Although Pine is about to begin production on the #Netflix film Outlaw King, he has (surprisingly) been confirmed for the superhero sequel while Jenkins has not.

Of course, with how much love Jenkins has expressed for the film and #DC Films president Geoff Johns revealing that they are both working on a script treatment for the sequel, chances are an official directing confirmation is imminent. With a release date for the series and a production date on Wonder Woman 2 still unknown, time will tell as to when everyone's schedules will align.

Wonder Woman 2 will hit theaters on December 13th, 2019. If you can't wait two years to satisfy your Diana Prince craving, you can check out Gal Gadot alongside Ben Affleck, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher and Henry Cavill in #JusticeLeague, which is set for release on November 17, 2017.
