If you are ready for Jordan Vogt-Roberts's creature feature, and a trip into the unknown with Kong: Skull Island, then get ready for a look at what our brave band of doomed heroes will be facing later this year. It isn't just gorillas in the mist, and of course, there will be a giant spider to contend with — there is always a giant spider.

You may remember the film's second trailer, which gave us a dishevelled John C. Reilly, warning of the ominous "Skullcrawlers." Well, now we get a look at said Crawlers, and they are just as creepy as we imagined. Given that we will have to wait until March 10 to get a full look at what we are dealing with in the depths of the Indian Ocean, those spoilery guys over at Idle Hands blog may just have ruined the surprise. Lanard Toys and their #Kong: #SkullIsland toy line is everything we could have hoped for and more, making Stretch Armstrong look like a My Little Pony and Action Man like Barbie.

An Early Shower For Samuel L. Jackson?

While the trailer for Skull Island gave us at least a glimpse of the two-legged dinosaur attack, the "Skullcrawler" is now simply called "Dino Monster" here (how original), so we will have to wait a little longer to see how they got that vicious moniker. The description for the Dino Monster set reads:

Battle for Survival: Creature Contact Set: Dino Monster with Shack and Figure: Creature alert! Join the Monarch expedition to Skull Island and prepare to discover the most deadly creatures on planet Earth with the Kong Skull Dino Monster with Shack and Figure. On Skull Island, danger lurks around every corner. With your Sky Devil combat gear you can face the monsters head on...and win! Explorer or soldier, you must be prepared to fight if you want to survive..."

However, if you notice, the soldier included in the Dino Monster set bears an uncanny resemblance to Samuel L. Jackson's character Lieutenant Colonel Packard. It may seem like a glaringly obvious spoiler to place on a toy, but could this mean that Packard bows out early on after a Skullcrawler attack? Given that the trailer showed Boardwalk Empire's Shea Whigham ready to take on the giant dino to save his team, it looks more likely that he will become Crawler chow.

The toys show that at least Packard's team come to Skull Island prepared for anything, with a vast arsenal of weapons to shoot to their hearts' content, but it clearly won't be enough. For those afraid of spiders, better look away now. The "Spider" set sees a Hiddleston-esque figure taking on the giant arachnid, while the "Pterodactylus" set features a giant flying dinosaur that you have to take on with a boat. It gives the vibe similar to the maligned Jurassic Park III, but I'm sure Skull Island will fair better than that outing. Sadly, there is still no sign of the giant water buffalo glimpsed in the trailer, so we will have to make do with carnivorous monsters to play with. We don't know when the toys will officially be on shelves, but they will be on display at Toy Fair 2017, running from February 18 through February 21 in New York.

It isn't all creepy crawlies though, mechaphiles can get their kicks with the vehicles included in the line. The set also includes an armored speedboat, as well as what could possibly be the helicopter we see brought down in the trailer. However, the best toy by far is the full-sized Kong figure himself. For anyone doubting the rumors that this would be the biggest Kong yet to grace our films, check out the 18-inch Mega-Figure and puny little soldier included; I think he will need more than just a rocket launcher to take on the great ape. With an all-star cast and a whopping budget, Skull Island promises to be the King's boldest adventure yet.

We will see Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Jing Tian, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Shea Whigham, and Toby Kebbell take on Kong and the rest of his crew on March 10, so you'd better get practicing your commando rolls.
