20 Movies I Can't Wait to See in 2019

These movies better be good.

2019 looks like it's gonna be a pretty awesome year for movies. There are many films that I'm very excited to be watching in the theater, and while I'm likely gonna watch more than these, here are twenty of the films that I definitely will not miss in theaters.

'Glass'

Director: M. Night Shyamalan

Writer: M. Night Shyamalan

Release date: January 18, 2019

Genre: Superhero, thriller

Unbreakable is one of my favorite films of all time and it's my favorite Shyamalan film. Split was okay, and then I saw the ending of that movie, and I was like, "HOLY SHIT!" And now we're having the conclusion to the Eastrail 177 trilogy.

'How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World'

Director: Dean DeBlois

Writer: Dean DeBlois

Release date: February 22, 2019

Genre: Animation, fantasy, action

There's a common trend among many film trilogies: the third one always sucks. It's not always the case, but most of the time, the third movie in a trilogy is when the writers have burned themselves out. This doesn't look like it'll suck. It looks like it will be absolutely awesome.

'Captain Marvel'

Director: Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck

Writer: Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Jac Schaeffer

Release date: March 8, 2019

Genre: Superhero, action

The first female-led Marvel movie? Hell yes! I do have worries that this movie could end up being subpar compared to their Marvel movies. This doesn't look like the next Winter Soldier. It looks like the next Thor. But I'm definitely watching it. Can't say no to Marvel.

'Us'

Director: Jordan Peele

Writer: Jordan Peele

Release date: March 15, 2019

Genre: Psychological, horror

Get Out was one of my favorite movies. And if there's one thing I learned from that, it's that Jordan Peele knows how to write a script and direct a horror movie. This looks considerably scarier than Get Out, however. Awesome.

'Dumbo'

Director: Tim Burton

Writer: Ehren Kruger

Release date: March 29, 2019

Genre: Fantasy, adventure

I'm not the biggest fan of Tim Burton's directing style (I haven't forgiven him for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) but I haven't seen the original Dumbo and this elephant looks too cute to miss in theaters.

'Avengers: Endgame'

Director: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo

Writer: Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely

Release date: April 26, 2019

Genre: Superhero, action

I don't want to spoil anything in case you haven't seen Infinity War, but I am gonna watch Endgame the very first chance I get. This movie looks legendary, and if it disappoints me, I will curl up in a ball and die.

'John Wick 3: Parabellum'

Director: Chad Stahelski

Writer: Derek Kolstad

Release date: May 17, 2019

Genre: Action, thriller

I can't wait for this. Keanu Reeves has nailed it as this badass hitman, and this movie looks awesome. If I see John Wick kill four people at a bar with pencils in this movie, I will orgasm in my seat. I NEED A DAMN TRAILER ALREADY!

'Aladdin'

Director: Guy Ritchie

Writer: John August, Guy Ritchie

Release date: May 24, 2019

Genre: Fantasy, adventure, romance, musical

Look, I'm not the biggest fan of Disney making a bunch of live-action remakes of their classics, and I do want some more original films, but I really want to see Will Smith portray the Genie. His performance on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has convinced me that he has the comedic ability to pull it off.

I mean, just watch this hilarious scene.

'The Secret Life of Pets 2'

Director: Chris Renaud

Writer: Brian Lynch

Release date: June 7, 2019

Genre: Animation, comedy

Look, the first Secret Life was average at best. It ripped off Toy Story a bit too much for my liking, but the "Max" trailer of the movie actually got some genuine laughs out of me. So, hopefully, this film will be better than the original.

'Dark Phoenix'

Director: Simon Kinberg

Writer: Simon Kinberg

Release date: June 7, 2019

Genre: Superhero, action

I don't know much about the X-Men movies or the infamously fucked up timeline, but as a Marvel lover, I do plan on watching the X-Men films and then watching this. Hopefully, this movie won't be as bad as Fant4stic or X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

'Men in Black: International'

Director: F. Gary Gray

Writer: Art Marcum, Matt Holloway

Release date: June 14, 2019

Genre: Science fiction, action, comedy

While I will miss the comedic chemistry of Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, I can't say no to a movie with Thor, Valkyrie, Bryan Mills, Ilsa Faust, and Professor Trelawney. And the trailer made this movie look pretty cool.

'Toy Story 4'

Director: Josh Cooley

Writer: Stephany Folsom

Release date: June 21, 2019

Genre: Animation, comedy

When I first heard about a Toy Story 4, I was pretty upset because it looked like a movie that was only being made for money, and that Pixar shouldn't continue with these characters after Toy Story 3, but from what I've heard, this movie has a very emotional ending, so I hope it's good.

And Keanu Reeves is in it. JOHN WICK IS IN THIS MOVIE!

'Spider-Man: Far From Home'

Director: Jon Watts

Writer: Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers

Release date: July 5, 2019

Genre: Superhero, action

I wasn't really expecting another Spider-Man standalone movie since there are currently seven Spider-Man movies in existence, but this movie should be good.

'The Lion King'

I'm fancy now.

Director: Jon Favreau

Writer: Jeff Nathanson

Release date: July 19, 2019

Genre: Drama

This movie looks like it will pay a lot of respect to the original film, and just look at the cast; Donald Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Beyoncé, James Earl Jones, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, John Oliver, and Keegan Michael-Key. That is an insane cast.

And Nathanson has written some of my favorite films, and Favreau has directed some of my favorite films.

'Once Upon a Time In Hollywood'

Director: Quentin Tarantino

Writer: Quentin Tarantino

Release date: July 26, 2019

Genre: Mystery, crime

I want to see the film because it's Tarantino and because I want to see DiCaprio and Robbie in a movie again after The Wolf of Wall Street. This cast looks amazing, and I like the premise.

'Hobbs & Shaw'

Director: David Leitch

Writer: Chris Morgan

Release date: July 26, 2019

Genre: Action

Look, I don't really know anything about the Fast & Furious franchise. I don't even know which one is Hobbs and which one is Shaw. But if it's got The Rock, Statham, Vanessa Kirby, Eiza González, and Idris Elba, along with the director of John Wick, I can't say no to a movie like that.

'Joker'

Director: Todd Phillips

Writer: Todd Phillips, Scott Silver

Release date: October 4, 2019

Genre: Crime

Many are skeptical about this movie, saying there's no point if Heath Ledger won't be playing the role. But the way, I see it, each actor brings their own interpretation of the character to the role, which is why Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, Mark Hamill, and Jared Leto are all very different despite playing the same character.

And I know Joaquin Phoenix is a damn good actor who can play a good villain (see Gladiator), so I think he can bring something unique to this character.

'Terminator 6'

Director: Tim Miller

Writer: David S. Goyer

Release date: November 1, 2019

Genre: Science fiction, action

This is the only picture that exists of the new Terminator movie and this picture makes the movie look really shitty, but Arnold is back, Linda Hamilton is back as Sarah Connor, and this is a direct sequel to Terminator 2 and it ignores the other sequels.

Doesn't sound too bad.

'Frozen 2'

Director: Jennifer Lee, Chris Buck

Writer: Jennifer Lee, Allison Schroeder

Release date: November 22, 2019

Genre: Musical, drama, fantasy

Many people are hating on the original Frozen for being "overrated" despite being "mediocre". And I don't know. I really liked the original Frozen and hopefully, this sequel will be a better sequel than Ralph Breaks the Internet.

'Star Wars: Episode IX'

Director: J. J. Abrams

Writer: J. J. Abrams, Chris Terrio

Release date: December 20, 2019

Genre: Space opera

The hype for this movie is real. I cannot wait to see this movie, I'm gonna try to get advance screening tickets, and this movie will hopefully be awesome. If you're no longer a Star Wars fan after The Last Jedi, good for you; now, stay home, shut up, and let others enjoy this movie.

Also, Luke is not coming back to life. That's one of the shittiest ideas I've ever heard, honestly.

Okay, now, like I said, these aren't all the movies I'm watching this year. I'll probably watch more, but for now, that's it!
