'Dragon Ball Heroes' Episode 3

Greetings Dragon Ball Fandom, I hope you have checked out the latest episode of Dragon Ball Heroes. If you missed last weekend's episode and need to catch up, I suggest you stop here or check out my guide to Dragon Ball Heroes.

Spoiler alert, the following post contains major spoilers and information on the upcoming episode of the Dragon Ball Heroes anime, please be advised. The next episode has been scheduled to release in early September 2018

Dragon Ball Heroes started as a card game, then grew into a video game found exclusively in Japanese arcades. Players build unique teams by buying cards that feature a variety of heroes and villains from the world of Dragon Ball. You then take those characters and use them to battle through missions that are changed periodically. Those missions have also been adapted to mangas that are readily available online. The arcade game has undergone a major revamp, which led to renaming the game Super Dragon Ball Heroes not to be confused with Dragon Ball Super. Super Dragon Ball Heroes is a game that has given mangas and animes alike, but it is not a part of the official storyline. While Dragon Ball Super is a part of the official Dragon Ball storyline and considered canon.

Dragon Ball fans should show respect to the game and Dragon Ball Heroes at large because it has given way to a renaissance of the Dragon Ball world. The video game was instrumental in bringing our favorite characters back to the public eye and is a part of the reason why we will be receiving a brand new canonized Broly movie this December.

The Story so Far

To recap, Goku and Vegeta are training with Whis, I assume this is in the main timeline in universal 7. Mai shows up alone and informs Goku, Vegeta, Whis, and Beerus that Trunks, who was coming to train on Beerus's planet with the others, has disappeared. Our antagonist, Fu, shows up, pretty much out of nowhere, giving off your typical bad guy vibes and lies to them. He claims that he is a friend of Trunks and warns the group that Trunks has been taken to the Prison Planet. So, of course, Goku and Vegeta go blindly into the prison planet.

Once we get there, we learn that Fu is behind everything. He has captured a number of strong warriors from different eras and has locked them on the prison planet to fight for entertainment. We are treated to the first headline fight which is Goku vs. Goku. There is the Goku from our main storyline who transforms into SS Blue and then we are treated to seeing the Dragon Ball GT SS4 transformation. The fight ends with both Gokus firing their Kamehamehas. SS4 Goku was hoping that the powerful attacks would be enough to free them from the prison planet but alas, no luck. Fu tells them that the only way off the planet is to gather the Dragon Balls. He has given one to seven different warriors, setting up the premise of the special; beat up the bad guys, take their dragon balls, and wish yourself home.

In the next episode, we pick up with Cumber, or Kumba, the Evil Saiyan who is seen powering up and escaping his cell. You also see that he is one of the villains who has a dragon ball. Vegeta and Goku are walking with Mai when they sense the powerful energy of Cumber. Goku powers up to Super Saiyan and Vegeta stays in his base form as they engage the new enemy. However, Cumber takes control of Goku's mind with his evil energy and sends Goku into berserk form. Goku fights with Vegeta until Trunks and Cooler show up. Ultimately, Cooler transforms into his golden form and knocks Goku out of the berserk, releasing him from the evil ki. Cumber then decides to take on the group personally. The episode ends with Goku and Vegeta using the potaras to fuse into Vegito.

Talk about a cliffhanger.

With an ending like that, it was hard to imagine that we would not be gifted another episode. And we were not let down. The Super Dragon Ball heroes card game website released the title of the upcoming episode along with a brief synopsis. The episode will be called “The Mightiest Radiance! Vegito Blue Kaio-Ken Explodes!”

“The evil Saiyan ‘Cumber’ (Everyone has spelled his name slightly different, the important thing to remember is that his name is a play off the vegetable cucumber and that he is the evil Saiyan) has revealed his true form, and in order to face off against him, Goku and Vegeta merge via the potara! They become the mightiest warrior, Vegito Blue, and even let loose with the Kaio-Ken!! Cumber counters by unleashing an amazing form.”
