Fans Are Disappointed with the Last Season of 'Game of Thrones'

It's been two years since Game of Thrones season seven came out and now fans have lost their their excitement and all hype. The eighth and final season is here and... there's like a light hum on Twitter about it. A light hum at best. While a lot of people are still watching, they are simply not posting as much anymore... so what are they really thinking about this new season.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, this is the lowest rated season so far.

And each episode is rating a lower and lower score so far...

What changed?

As you probably already know, this show passed the books a while ago... leaving a frantic team of writers trying to come up with some dramatic content. It's difficult enough to turn George R. R. Martin's fantasy world into TV, let alone without anymore books...

The new script writers are mostly made of a team of seven writers. However, the series creators, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss write most of the episodes.

Even Benioff agrees...

Benioff stated that their new writing was getting dragged out as he claimed that each season writing became more and more difficult to decide who should write what.

"This would be the last time that we would be doing this," said Benioff.

Fewer and Fewer Episodes

David Benioff and D. B. Weiss originally planned for this season to be the longest with 13 episodes. Later, they stated that it would be cut down to their usual amount of episodes per season: 10 episodes.

In July 2016, HBO announced that not only the seventh season would only be seven episodes... but it would also delayed.

Finally, Benioff and Weiss eventually announced that the eighth and final season would only have six episodes, making it the shortest season in Game of Thrones. They also mentioned in the same announcement that season eight would be delayed. They didn't mention, however, how delayed it would be.

What's different about the new season that no one likes?

Everyone fell in love with Game of Thrones because it was different; it stood out from the rest of the TV shows with its huge focus on politics, intense boob/wang exposure, and for breaking all of the rules in script writing so far. This season the writers have seemed to go with all the cliches and simply given the viewers what they want: Closure.

There is too much focus on the characters and not enough focus on the politics. What happened to the game? You know, the Game with the lust for power?
