Fans of Kingsman: The Secret Service have been waiting patiently for a sequel to the action-packed movie, and now the wait is nearly over. With the sequel set for release this September, fans are starting to wonder who the main villain will be this time around. Recently, director Matthew Vaughn revealed who to expect to see take on Eggsy in the second installment of the spy movie franchise, and she looks sweeter than she will be.

The sequel's villain has been given the name of Poppy, who may look all sweet and lovely, but actually she's a dark, lethal and meddling villain who means to interfere with Eggsy and his crew. Poppy has been described as "a criminal mastermind" whom viewers will see run her own organization from an American-heavy secret base called Poppyland. With the character having a sort of sweet side, casting Julianne Moore looks to be the right choice for Poppy.

When interviewed about Poppy, Vaughn said this:

“She’s America’s sweetheart gone wrong. I thought it would be fun to see her play this kooky, sweet, Stepford Wives-style villain that, at the same time, is lethal and crazy and intelligent. Julianne is a fascinating actress. She can play wholesome so well, but also pretty crazy and tough. She was in my head as I was writing.”

Vaughn has also revealed that he didn't have plans to direct #KingsmanTheGoldenCircle until his creative idea about Poppy and Poppyland suddenly flew into his head, which then urged him to get working on the long-awaited sequel.

“I was worried about the villain. Spy films are only as good as their villains. What I loved about Valentine [the bad guy in the first movie, played by Samuel L. Jackson] is that his plot made sense. I’ve come up with a whole new villain plot that I guarantee people will be debating.”

Poppy Versus Valentine

Richmond Valentine, played by Samuel L. Jackson, tried his absolute hardest to put a stop to Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Harry Hart (Colin Firth) in #KingsmanTheSecretService, which ended in misery for Valentine. The philanthropist and billionaire was concerned with the environmental problems that Earth faced. So, Valentine decided to take the matters into his own hands, which meant killing the majority of the people on the planet. But how does Valentine compare to Poppy?

Like Valentine, Poppy is set to battle it out with Eggsy as the Kingsman gang give it all they can to stop Poppy's plans. Driving away from Valentine, we see Poppy as an innocent and harmless character on the outside, before she switches to her evil personality, which is just as deadly as Valentine. It's uncertain what Poppy's deadly plan actually is, but, what we do know is that she has connections with the secret New World Order group The Golden Circle.

Keeping Poppy Memorable Like Valentine

In other reports, Vaughn has revealed he wants to make Poppy as memorable as Valentine. Richmond Valentine's plan may have been morally questionable, but it did make a strong point. Now, Vaughn will be following in Valentine's footsteps with Poppy, who likes to hide out in a '50s style diner in Poppyland. Briefly describing Poppy's plan, Vaughn said:

“I’ve come up with a whole new villain plot that I guarantee people will be debating.”

Rumors suggest that Poppy's plan will be to wipe out people using food she has spruced up in her '50s diner. With that being said, it's enough to get spy-movie lovers buckled up ready for the exploding sequel.
