Is Chris Hemsworth Really The Big Bad Of 'Ghostbusters'?

Say whaaaaat? Bear with us on this one! The Ghostbusters girls definitely needed some eye candy around the office, and the surprise role of Chris Hemsworth as their receptionist Kevin nicely rounded off the cast. However, could the spectacled hunk actually be the all female Ghostbusters's arch-nemesis? We NEED to talk about Kevin!

Replacing Annie Potts as "the glasses one," Hemsworth is adding the Y chromosome into the cast of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. The latest trailer is certainly packed full of Hemsworth, as early on we see Kevin possessed by a ghost, similar to what happens to Leslie Jones in the first trailer. While all it took was a slap to bring Jones round, it looks like Kevin's possession is in it for the long haul. On the plus side, it does seem to give him some awesome motorbike skills.

So how could such a lovable Aussie be someone to watch out for? Towards the 1:28 mark of the trailer we see a rather smug looking Hemsworth as he turns away from the camera to face an explosion. The explosion in question seems to be what is causing the girls all the trouble (including animated parade balloons); the device going off amplifies paranormal activity — similar to opening Gozer's portal in the first film. His actions could well be linked to the possession, but we aren't convinced.

What else the trailer shows us is the actual villain — named Rowan, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, but there has to be some human form behind Rowan. Game of Thrones star Charles Dance was cast in an unknown role in the film, but unusually this time, the actor won't be playing a villain. Dance debunked the theory that he was the Big Bad to Radio Times:

I’m a kind of straight man to a bunch of very funny ladies...He’s not villainous but he just doesn’t understand and appreciate the whole Ghostbusting thing. He is English as well.

As for Kevin, the trailer is unlikely to give away such a plot twist, but just think how cool it would be to have the team taken down from the inside. Maybe Kevin is a power-mad original Ghostbusters fan who wants an all male lineup again? Maybe he is the reanimated Vigo the Carpathian? Maybe we are all wrong? Whatever the outcome, we are still hoping that it is Kevin behind Rowan! OK you can all go back to hating the film now and hitting the dislike button.
