Matt LeBlanc Reveals How He Dislocated His Shoulder While Filming 'Friends'
Matt LeBlanc has finally revealed the real reason why he ended up in a sling for a short while.
Friends tells the story of six close friends who all lead exciting lives with different career paths, making every character unique. The sitcom will always be remembered for its hilarious and dramatic storylines, as well as the absurdly hilarious moments from the series. For example: When Joey suddenly turned up at Monica's apartment wearing a sling.
Of course, hardcore #Friends fans will know that during the episode "The One With the Jam," Joey explained that he badly injured his arm by having a bit too much fun jumping up and down on his bed. However, Matt LeBlanc has finally revealed the real reason why he ended up in a sling for a short while.
A 'Stunt' That Didn't Quite Go To Plan
Filming Friends may seem like a laugh, but it has been made clear that playing Joey was quite dangerous. Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the Friends star explained in detail how he ended up with an injury during the episode "The One Where No One's Ready."
Like children, Chandler (Matthew Perry) and Joey went head-to-head in a bizarre competition to sit in a specific armchair. However, the competition got a bit out of hand, leading to some serious consequences for LeBlanc. During his interview, LeBlanc said:
"We both look at each other, look at the chair, and neither one of us is sitting in it. So we both race to the chair, and I have to just step over the coffee table and land on this big, huge comfortable chair. I don't even think it qualifies as a stunt. Somehow I ended up completely upside down, and I was going to land on my head between the table and the chair, so I put my arm up to break my fall and just exploded my shoulder."
Continuing his interview, LeBlanc went on to explain that the audience thought the stunt was actually part of the episode and casually laughed and pointed at him as he stumbled off the set.
Final Thoughts
Thankfully for Matt, the take of him diving for the chair and landing upside down didn't make the final cut. Although, it might have been quite amusing to see if it were included as an outtake in the special features section of the DVD.
