'Phineas and Ferb' Need Your Help in Their Emmy Campaign!

Phineas and Ferb is one of the most well-loved Disney programs in recent memory; like the classics (The Proud Family, American Dragon, and Kim Possible to name a few), it's one of these "kids" shows that doesn't talk down to its target audience. It's not afraid to explore darker and even tear-inducing themes, but always keeps its audience in mind, by blending in comic elements and unforgettable songs.

Now, the Emmys are forthcoming, and maybe some other award-winning bodies, and that's why one of the series' creators, Dan Povenmire (also voice behind Dr. Doofenshmirtz) took to twitter to campaign for the program that we loved so dearly.

This whole show deserves an Emmy; but its penultimate and final episodes are especially deserving. Aside from the points Mr. Povenmire has made, and as a long time fan of the show, if you haven't seen Phineas and Ferb I guarantee you, it's worth it. I respectfully suggest that you watch it, and if you or someone you know are members of the TV Academy, hear me out: here's why this show deserves that highly coveted Emmy!

1. It's Entertaining For Both Kids and Adults Without Being Vulgar

I know for a fact that even if you're an adult, you will be entertained. A lot of families I know who were initially skeptical dismissed Phineas and Ferb as just another "dumb" cartoon before watching it. But when when they gave it a try, voila! They absolutely loved it.

While I do watch and love The Simpsons, South Park, and Bob's Burgers even with their vulgar hilariousness, dysfunctional families and communities, and their general lampooning of American culture, THEY ARE NOT FOR KIDS. They're "adult" cartoons even though there are children in them (and they tend to be smarter than their adult counterparts). I've been watching The Simpsons since I was 6 and I absolutely love it because there also episodes which aren't too crass and are technically 'okay' for kids - but absolutely do not let your kids watch the others, you might regret it (case in point, my 11 year-old brother who began to watch South Park at 8). My point is, kids soak up what they watch like a sponge - and if they watch Phineas and Ferb, I can assure you there are no bad stuff they can soak up.

2. It's A "Kids" Show That Doesn't Talk Down

I said this in my introduction, and I'll say it again. Disney Television Animation rarely produces shows that aren't fun, entertaining or drop off bits of knowledge and life lessons; I have learned a lot of valuable lessons during Phineas and Ferb's summers! Phineas and Ferb is one of the greatest cartoon programs in this respect bbecause it doesn't treat kids like they're mindless buffoons; it's not repetitive, nonsensical, and it never gets tedious.

3. It Encourages Kids To Be Creative And Work On It!

Phineas and Ferb have seemingly endless summers, but they don't want to waste a single day of it by getting into a cycle of sleeping late, waking up late, eating, and watching TV all day, everyday! However, they did have one 'do nothing day' as a break from all their exhausting summer adventures, like building a roller coaster, finding Atlantis, one-hit wonders, traveling to the future, and going to the second dimension!

Their incredible ways are something to look up to, along with the fact they encourage us to take interest in science, math, and art! They inspired Canadian superfan Ashley Simpson to design teenage versions of Phineas and Ferb - and her art was actually used in the show (in the penultimate episode)! Dreams do come true!

4. The Amazing Cross-Overs!

If you're not a fan of this show but a fan of Marvel comics and Star Wars - then I urge you to watch those PnF specials right now, you won't be disappointed. In Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel, they got everything down to a tee - even Stan Lee's cameo!

And even though I haven't even finished watching all the films in the Star Wars saga, Phineas And Ferb: Star Wars made me reconsider. The cross-over was just perfect and if you're a Star Wars fan, you will surely rank this as one of the best Star Wars parodies ever.

Phineas and Ferb went from awesome to intergalactic awesome in that episode!

Amongst the nominees, Phineas and Ferb is a definite underdog - another factor is that it ended over a year ago while the others are still ongoing. But in terms of animation, story, and overall entertainment Phineas and Ferb, in my humble opinion, is up there among the greatest cartoon shows of this decade.
