When the first Twilight movie debuted in 2008, it became a YA blockbuster that was only usurped by the subsequent movies associated with the franchise. Since Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part II ended the series in 2012, fans have been wishing and hoping for something, anything, that will resurrect the series — and for good reason.

Patrick Wachsberger, the co-chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, called Twilight "a gamechanger for everyone involved." The franchise grossed more than $3 billion at the box office and has remained just as popular as it was nearly a decade ago.

So it's easy to understand why calls for a sequel are still ongoing — and star Robert Pattinson recently threw some chum into the waters when he expressed his interest to Yahoo Movies regarding a spinoff, which they jokingly titled Edward: Homecoming:

"So, I'll get my own spin-off? ... I'm always kind of curious. Anything where there's a mass audience — or seemingly an audience for it — I always like the idea of subverting people's expectations. There could be some radical ways of doing it, which could be quite fun. It's always difficult when there's no source material."

Many times celebrities will respond off-the-cuff when asked a question about a popular series, but they don't have behind-the-scenes knowledge. That isn't required for fans, though. All we hear is that he's interested in a spinoff, and that's enough to keep us watching for even the slightest hint of news.

And fans all around the globe would salivate over an Edward and Bella spinoff that focused on the married vampire couple living a life apart from the Cullens and out from under the protection of the family unit. In all honesty, though, no matter how the franchise were resurrected, fans would be buying tickets the minute they became available.

Twilight is and always will be popular, and just thinking we could see Edward Cullen back on the big screen is enough to make us keep hoping for a glimpse of this possibility.
