My Review of the Movie 'Venom' Watched in 3D Dbox

There's all of these bad reviews of the movie Venom but my friends had said it was actually an okay movie. I wanted to see for myself especially since the movie grossed so much in the box office last weekend.

So I decided to watch Venom. I haven't been to a 3D Dbox movie since Dr. Strange came out. I remember enjoying Dr. Strange in 3D Dbox so seeing as Venom is an action film this would be a perfect opportunity to try it again.

Venom's trailers were actually pretty well done. It gave me a yearning to watch the movie without telling me too much about the movie. This way I didn't know what I was getting myself into.

The beginning of the movie wasn't too bad. It explained how the plot of the story fairly well. It didn't take long and wasn't very confusing how the major events played out. Everything played out logically and wan't a mess like I thought it was going to be. I really have to reconsider some of the reviews that I watch and read some of them are pretty harsh for no particular reason.

The movie did ramp up with a lot of action scenes and they were great. I think maybe I had the Dbox set up pretty high. It has 3 adjustment levels. I had it at the highest setting thinking I wanted the most out of this experience. In the end I turned it down to moderate because I was starting to get sick from all the moving of my chair while I was eating. Eating and Dbox don't exactly mix well together especially in 3D. Speaking of 3D, the 3D was very subtle. There weren't really any jump out moments in this movie. It was just ho hum. Nothing fantastic but it wasn't necessarily flat either. It was bordering on flat so I wouldn't recommend watching it in 3D. The Dbox was nice but for the run time of the movie I started to feel sick. I don't know how I didn't get sick watching Dr. Strange and I did for this. I don't recommend watching this movie in Dbox but that could be because of my upset stomach. Take that for what it's worth.

The movie itself wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The movie kind of falls apart a little closer to the end. It's not totally horrible but there's a few things in there that I thought you would need a little stretch of your imagination.

I know about Venom in the comics and I know it doesn't have any resemblance to the comic version of Venom. It's different but I can see how they can integrate this easier into the Marvel comic movies. The tone of it is very different. It's darker than the other Marvel movies but it's technically not really a Marvel movie so you can't put them at fault for that. It's actually kind of a welcome change in tone.

It's good that the movies can have their own flavor for each of these comic characters. It ties into the new animated Spider-Man series that they're trying to promote with Venom. Well it doesn't tie directly to the animated series but the animated series explains that Marvel is going into the different universe direction to explain stories that don't exactly match the original comic books. I guess DC can kind of do the same thing.

There were two extra scenes at the end of this movie. One that sets this series up for a sequel and the other one that doesn't really relate to this movie at all but more of a promotion.

I rate this movie a 6 and a half out of 10. I think it's view-able. It wasn't the greatest movie and I don't think it's exactly theater watch worthy but it's at least worth a rental. Maybe I wasted my money on the 3D Dbox experience but it was worth checking out so that none of you have to do the same mistake as I did.
