Games to Play to Prepare for Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
No one can deny that 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a welcome surprise and a hit with both audiences and the box office. Directed by Daniel Pemberton and hosting a great voice cast such as Shemeik Moore, Jake Johnson, and Hailee Steinfield (and John Mulaney as one of the weirdest yet most endearing members of the Spidey-family), the film introduced the audience to Miles Morales as he struggles to come to terms with his newfound powers and learning to step up to be a hero for his friends, family, and his city. With the announcement of the film’s upcoming sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) coming in 2023, I decided to compile a list of great games to play that allows webheads to prepare for the return of the Spider-Verse when it hits the big screen once more.

3 Ways Gotham Knights Can Learn From Marvel’s Avengers
Gotham Knights, the next new Batman-themed game coming from WB Montreal, has been stirring up hype since the game’s announcement and recent gameplay reveal. However, upon hearing the game will be sharing similarities with Square Enix’s 2020 Marvel’s Avengers (in regards of loot and combat), I started hoping that Gotham Knights will learn from the mistakes of Avengers that lead to the game receiving average reviews and the eventual skydiving player numbers that still plague the servers today. As I have recently decided to pick Avengers back up again, I decided to write down a list of some aspects Gotham Knights should avoid if they hope to make the Batfamily the next new superhero multiplayer beat-em-up. Also, spoilers will be talked about in both games, so be warned.

Exploring EA’s Failed Reality-Bending Game, Majestic
In the early 2000s, the now video-game-giant EA regularly broke barriers in the gaming industry. And by barriers, I mean the fourth wall. That was the main gameplay mechanic for Majestic, released on July 24, 2001, developed by Anim-X (put a pin in that, by the way) while designed and published by Electronic Arts. With the tagline “It plays you”, it sounds like a generic bait line that warrants people to wander by it in the store, do a double take, and shell out the money just out of curiosity. Yet, this tagline was making a never-before-seen promise that the game would be pulled into our world, rather than the player being pulled into theirs.

The Batman’s Ending Parallels with Batman: Arkham City- Here’s How (SPOILERS)
The Batman, released earlier this month, was a pleasant surprise and a great addition to the DC lineup of its superhero’s modern-day cinematic treatments. Ever since I watched it, I have been recommending it to anyone in earshot, and if you are at all interested in comic book films, I highly suggest you check it out as well. With that being said, the film’s closing minutes reminded me of my favorite game in the Batman: Arkham franchise, Arkham City, and I want to discuss just exactly how. Also, this goes without saying, but SPOILER ALERT for The Batman, Arkham City, AND the sequel to City, Arkham Knight.
