Serkis is Symbiote
Leave it to the man who basically created cinematic internal monologues to direct a Venom movie with such smooth skill. Andy Serkis, the quiet movie giant of the past 20 years, starting with the role of Gollum in The Lord of the Rings (a big step in the now popular artform of motion capture) takes the reins from previous director, Ruben Fleischer.

My First Concert Experience Might Be My Best One.
I walked into the arena. Our seats were high up, not the best but not the worst either. I sat down and looked around, trying to take in the pre-show vibe. The air was hazy and the neon lights from the screens rounding the arena shot through it, creating a colorful mist. There were ads for upcoming shows and then banners for the current one. I had been waiting for the moment for over three months. I had butterflies in my stomach and I felt the anticipation of the arena around me. I talked with some fellow concert goers but my focus was on the empty stage below. My uncle, a concert going extraordinaire, brought me my drink. I set it down as the tequila mixed in with the orange juice and grenadine.

Spider-Man's Webs Wrap Up Well
The world of 2023 is still in some chaos after the so-called “blip” happened via Thanos’ snappy fingers, leaving everyone reeling from the loss of their greatest heroes. Many believe anything they hear, and most are looking for the next “Iron Man.” For Queens locals, some feel like they might have found their own replacement. The problem is that he doesn't seem to think so, even after getting called up (and ghosting) super-spy Nick Fury.

In Hindsight: 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'
How a film is released can be the reason audiences sit down for it, or the exact opposite. Sometimes it's a limited release, a common instance for smaller films, and then maybe it's because it's just not the right time of the year. The latter reason has plagued many would-have-been big films over the years. These problems lead to good films being lost on many potential fans.

A Promising Look at 'Yesterday'
Jack isn't finding much success in music. His friends cheer him on in the pubs and his best friend/manager, Ellie, works extra hard to find him gigs and drive him there. But on the verge of quitting, Jack (Himesh Patel) gets hit by a bus and loses a few teeth but gains something else. You see, right when the bus hit Jack, the entire world lost power and a few memories too. Jack wakes up in a world that no longer knows who the Beatles are (or Oasis but that's less important). Jack begins to realize that his single knowledge of the beloved band might be of some help. The small town Brit starts to work hard and write down all the lyrics he remembers so that he can share them and find some of that success that seemed to avoid him. On his road, there are some twists and shouts that makes him start to wonder how he is living in life.

'El Royale' Is Worth Booking a Room
“You shouldn't be here,” so says the bellhop to priest in Bad Times at the El Royale, but that isn't the case for the rest of us. In fact, El Royale is the place to be for those wanting a slow-paced vintage thriller. Drew Goddard’s sophomore outing as director is a cinematic callback to noir set in Nixon’s America. The colors are bright but the intentions are dark and Goddard lets his surprises lead with subtlety.

'Venom' Fails to Merge
Venom features journalist Eddie Brock being merged with an alien parasite known as, well, Venom. In the movie, Brock is one of the few humans who is able to successfully bond with the symbiote but unfortunately, the movie lacks any successful connection with itself. Venom, most known as a villain of Spider-Man, can only be described as mediocre and generic.

'Crazy Rich Asians' Provides a Timeless Spectacular Event
It's hard to bring a book to life through film in a perfect way—almost as hard as making a new, fun and original film for the screen. Yet, Crazy Rich Asians has done both. The film, based on the 2013 bestseller by Kevin Kwan, is not only enjoyable and a delight to watch, but it is also breaking new ground in Hollywood. Asians is the first Hollywood film in 25 years to feature a majorly Asian cast. Beyond that, the film introduces a culture that is barely known in the west. And it does all that while providing a love story for the ages.

Hollywood's Greatest Storm Chaser
"I am the storm" says Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt at the beginning of Mission: Impossible - Fallout. And the storm he is indeed. He is a threat to every enemy that tries to hurt Hunt's friends. He is a storm that is blowing through the movie and crushing danger with each insane stunt. Over two decades have passed since Ethan Hunt first came onto the scene and like a fine wine, he and his missions have only gotten better (and more impossible) since that day. Cruise is truly the driving force behind the films. His passion and intensity shine through the character, now almost to a point where it can be hard to decipher between the two. Hunt matches Cruise's never-quitting grit and care for his work and friends.
