Mountain Retreat
What’s better than getting away from all the stresses in life? Getting away to the perfect retreat in the mountains. Quiet, serene, and peaceful with your favorite drink in hand as you watch the sun rise over a calm body of water. The thick morning mist rolling by over the banks, an elk bellowing across the way after taking a drink, maybe a busy beaver in the distance making a new home. You tilt back your head as you let it all sink in, barely noticing the icy chill from the condensation on your drink as it drips into your palm.

Werewolf
When Randolf awoke, the house was silent and bright sunshine was peaking through the window. It took him a moment to clear his foggy mind and remember the events of the night before. How did he sleep so hard when he was so worried about Klara? Randolf scowled slightly, knowing Iskra must have put a spell on the room to keep out any sound that would awaken him. Randolf quickly stretched his aching muscles, pulled his hair back with some twine, then descended the stairs to the lower level. He frowned when he saw the beds empty and didn’t hear a sound in the house. Klara could not possibly be in good enough condition to be walking around so soon. Trying not to panic, he went outside then heard a commotion a few houses away and found a small gathering of wolves around one particular home. It was shimmering with fairy magic, meant to keep anyone at bay.

Randolf couldn’t help but smile a little when the two left the room. Faelan was the perfect wolf to help the princess heal, no one was kinder or more gentle. Klara whimpered in pain while Iskra lifted the bandages and Randolf flinched. Even after much healing, large chunks were missing from where Gerrick’s teeth had ripped through, leaving ugly divots and mangled flesh.

Faelan took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, trying to gather the nerve to knock on the door to Carina’s guest room. The princess had finally calmed down enough to allow him to help her, thanks to Klara. Though she was willing to trust him, she still refused to leave the spare room in his house, making it even more difficult for the young wolf not to think about her.

They walked past his house to a smaller building just behind it. Unlike the other buildings, this one was secured with a padlock. Klara wondered what exactly he had that was so valuable that he didn’t trust just anyone to browse his collection. Entering, Klara realized exactly why. The building was immaculately designed with larger windows for more natural lighting and a high ceiling to prevent large build up of moisture. Unlike other buildings in the village, this one was fitted with large wooden beams which doubled as supports for the walled bookshelves. Klara whistled in praise.

Ch-21 Carina flinched, shutting her eyes. But the sword never came close to her and she heard Gertrude gasp in pain. The fairy and wolf starred in stunned surprise as Klara sunk the sword into Gertrude’s torso. Gertrude grunted in anger and surprise then threw Klara back with a blast of dark magic. “Pathetic, worthless girl!” she drew out the sword and it disappeared, no wound left in her body.

Ch-23 “Come on pup, we haven’t got all night!” Faelan groaned and trudged forward, following two other wolves on his first hunt. His body ached everywhere, not fully recovered from his transformation. The bit mark was just barely visible now on his lower leg which was miraculous considering a large chunk had been missing.

Dnaleri
Ch-18 It didn’t take long for the falcon to find Rebecca. In fact, as soon as they had gotten to the police station and had told the police what had happened, the falcon came and landed outside the window. Rebecca had a horrible sinking feeling that made the hairs on her arms stand up. The rain had finally stopped so she grabbed her crutches, hobbled outside, and approached the bird cautiously. Only when she removed the parchment did the falcon move to wash its wings. Rebecca opened up the letter and read it aloud to Penny and Heather.

Dnaleri
Ch-17 Heather launched to her feet, hauling Rebecca up with her, ready to run when needed. “Ah, you’ve found a friend, how charming.” the man said with a sickening smirk. “This will make it even more fun.” He threw Jacob away and made a move for them, but Jacob grabbed his shirt and threw him against the wall. They tackled each other while Penny ran to call the police.
