Street Metals
Even at her worst, Stacey always seemed to marvel at the spirituality in being awake before sunrise. There was something so serene in padding into the kitchen, going under the sink to grab the appropriate sized white metal pot from the set with the red painted rims and matching rubber handles to boil water on the stove to make the daily pitcher of sweet-tea. The size of the pot along with the size of the pitcher varied over the years and one would assume that was because the variation would correlate with size of the family.

One thing’s for certain;two things for sho, Malik was not about to eat at no chain restaurant no matter good they claimed their pancakes was. He always was on the lookout for those illuminated roadside sandwich board signs with the arrow that stopped blinking years ago. Magnolia was forever sucking her teeth at her younger sister Jasmine. And it wasn’t always in disdain because more often than not Jasmine was the level headed one. Since Dre’ confessed there wouldn’t be an actual trial. He would go to court with Reginald Chambers and plead guilty. Then he would be asked to give an allocution. After all of the details of the crime were given, the sentencing would commence. There’s no death penalty in the state where he was incarcerated, so more than likely, he would get at least twenty-five years to life and transferred to a prison upstate.

By the time Tori woke up, Dell and Sticks were already gone. Finally. Unsure of where Trudy may have went, she began getting ready to go see Andre. While her mind was running with thoughts last night, Tori stopped to settle on at least one decision. She wasn’t about to call this man Dad. No Dad would let his daughter go on for a little over fifteen years thinking he was dead. As she pressed her jeans and sweater, it was hard for her to reconcile why she still wanted to impress him when she got there.

She gathered all of the information that she could access via computer, then rushed to the criminal division of the courthouse. Of course, it was difficult to find what she wanted. Then when she did find it, it was on microfiche. She scanned the files until she found her small record. She clicked then scrolled down to the bottom of the page where it stated that the charges against her were dropped in lieu of new information regarding the present suspect.
