Scythe: The Cost of Love and War
There is a game you absolutely love and cherish. You want to see it in top form, so their first impressions will blow the minds of your friends and family. Even though the game looks smashing with its natural pieces and in vanilla scent, superficially you feel dressing it up may help break the initial awkwardness. Scythe from Stonemaier Games is that game for me.

'Runebound' to Adventure
Adventure board games should be like a favorite movie, book, or video game, and keep you invested in every choice a hero makes as they become stronger. In Runebound Second Edition (2005), and Third Edition (2015) you start as an insignificant character with few skills, no weapons, and a heavy quest to become mighty enough to pluck the evils from the lands of Terrinoth. Each edition handles this rise of power differently, and feels like how my life as a gamer has changed.

The first one is a heavy trek filled with lots of details, where the latter is a light adventure enjoyed with beer and pretzels.

RPGs do this, some video games are superb at it, and few board games do this well. Sometime an adaption of a video game into another medium doesn’t translate. Welcome to World of Warcraft: The Board Game where the adventures discovered in Azeroth are thrilling.

Starcraft: The Board Game at 10
StarCraft: The Board Game would have reached its 10th birthday this year if it wasn’t for its untimely death in 2011. In its four-year lifespan, the candle burned twice as bright with a Brood Wars expansion and a Blizzcon Typhon planet promo. This was a beautifully produced child of Fantasy Flight Games with Blizzard Entertainment’s input and designed by Christian T. Petersen and Corey Konieczka.
