'Manifest' Theory Coming True?

Episode 5 and 6 Recap

Originally my theory for NBC’s new show Manifest was that the plane was taken by aliens, the passengers were experimented on, and then the plane reappeared five and a half years later. Episode five further backs up my theory.

Episode five continues with Ben and Michaela having to deal with the passenger who snuck onboard the flight and they are trying to help hide from the government. Ben says he wants nothing to do with the situation and only cares about protecting his wife and kids, Olive and Cal. Bethany ends up getting arrested for helping the stowaway come to America illegally.

Ben returns home and decides to spend the day with Cal and they decide to flip a coin to decide what to do. They end up going to Coney Island and after a day of fun, Cal decides to run off with Ben chasing after him. They end up back where the stowaway is hiding out. Cal claims he doesn’t hear any voice talking to him, just that it’s “all connected.”

The episode ends with a flashback to the plane of everyone sleeping except for Cal. Cal opens the blinds on the window, sees a bright light, and says, “It’s all connected.” I think he knows what really happened to the flight. Aliens!

The episode also features a lot of flashbacks to the people who weren’t on the flight and how they got along with their lives. It has nothing to do with my theory and I find it to be boring filler, so I won’t be discussing what happened in them.

Episode six consisted of Ben and his wife hearing their son Cal screaming from a nightmare. The family spends the rest of the episode in the hospital dealing with Cal going in and out of consciousness, having a fever, and him muttering something in Bulgarian which Ben thought was a connection to a missing passenger from Bulgaria.

Ben discovered that the passengers who were from other countries or had no relatives and had nowhere to go were put in government shelters and taken there on five buses, but only four of the buses arrived. Ben was able to do this by a file he has on a tablet of all the passengers and where they were sitting. He also had weird photos of them. I know they did this for the show but to me, it also made Ben look like a creep. Maybe he has been stalking the other passengers. After narrowing down the area the bus disappeared, Michaela finds the site where the other passengers are being held by “doctors” and armed guards.

Ben brings the photos Michaela took of the site to the NSA but they deny any knowledge of it, and they actually don’t know of the site. The site is in turn run by the company United Dynamic Systems, who then move to a different location before the NSA can get there.

The episode ended with the “doctors” making a phone call saying the experiment will continue. Cal still being in the hospital, he had woken up and broken his fever. The NSA went to the location and found one of the bandaids with fresh blood still on it.

So episode five pointed toward aliens being involved in the disappearance but episode six made it look like United Dynamic Systems were behind the the whole thing and running an experiment on the passengers. It could be a mix of both, with the aliens taking them and UDS now doing an experiment to see what happened to them.

Thanks for following along. I’ll update again after episodes seven and eight. Until then, you can let me know what you think on Twitter @theLoganMSnyder and you can suggest other shows I can look into.
