With the new episode Beyond the Wall marking the longest episode of Game Of Thrones till date, mind boggling fan theories are already on the run. The episode featured some influential and important moments and was by far the most thrilling episode of this season. And the fan theories take it beyond. One of them says that the ambush of Jon Snow and the others was a pre-planned event only to attract Daenerys so that the Night King could get himself a dragon. While some points are indeed thought-provoking, the others seem forced. Get ready to dive into it.

The Walker And A Few Dead Were Intentionally Sent Before The Rest To Lure Them Into The Trap

Doesn't it seem a bit odd that only one Walker with a few dead were travelling ahead of the group? Doesn't it seem odd that only one dead didn't decay when Jon killed the Walker? It seemed like a walk in the park for them. It's too far-fetched to be termed coincidental. This indicates that the Night King had an idea that they would be coming. So he sent a suicide squad to lure them into a trap. Remember the moment when Bran sent ravens to look for the army and the ravens scattered when the Night King turned to look upon them? He knows when he is being watched.

The Place Of The Ambush Was Chosen Beforehand And Jon And The Rest Were Forced To Run That Way

Many were wondering at the end that how did a group of dead people acquire such huge chains in the midst of mountains and snow, to pull up Viserion. They were ambushed in a frozen lake. This means that during summer the lake wasn't probably frozen and it could have been used as a port. And there might have been chains to hold the ships when they made port. That's where the chains comes. Furthermore, Jon and the others had to flee towards the lake since there were mountains on the flank and they were chased from the back. The ambush was well planned.

The Night King Intervened Only A Few Moments Before Daenerys Showed Up

If we look closely at the scene when they were fleeing, we find that all of the dead didn't just run after them blindly. Rather they surrounded them on all sides preventing their escape at all costs. And even then, the Night King didn't intervene. He could have easily sent his whole army behind them including the Walkers with the spears. But he acted only a few moments before Daenerys showed up with her dragons.

The Night King Had Been Planning On Taking A Dragon For A Long Time

The Night King aimed for Viserion instead of Drogon who was nearer. Drogon was nearer which made him an easy target. But it also meant that if he missed then they would have noticed that and would flee before The Night King had another shot. He instead aimed for Viserion so that even if he missed, the others wouldn't notice as they were busy killing the dead. The Night King wanted a dragon before attacking the Wall. The Wall is protected by magical enchantments. So, he equipped himself with the best possible weapons he could gather before directing an attack.

This was far-fetched and seemed to be just another coincidence. Thoros of Myr was a red priest of Westeros and brought back Beric Dondarrion numerous times from the dead. But even if the Night King wanted him to die, there was still Melisandre who had the same capability. So, the motive isn't really clear and it could obviously be a normal attack with no one being the target.
