Old School Cartoons that Never Got an Ending

I grew up with cartoons like King Arthur and the Knights of Justice, Exo-Squad, Pirates of Dark Water, and various other memorable cartoons of the 90s and late 80s.

Sadly, many of them never got the ending the deserved, because for some dumbass reason they got cancelled.

King Arthur and The Knights of Justice was about a football time from the present day, brought back to medieval times by Merlin's magic to save Camelot and the world from the evil Queen Morgan and Lord Viper.

The original King Arthur and his knights were trapped in the Cave of Glass and it was up to the modern day heroes to find twelve keys to free the Original King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table.

Unfortunately, the series ended before Arthur and his Knights could get all the twelve keys. There was a release of the series on Super Nintendo which answered everything, but not all of us had a Super Nintendo back in the day.

'Exo-Squad'

Exo-Squad

When an artificial humanoid race called Neosapiens, led by Phaeton, begins an insurrection against the Homeworlds of Earth, Venus, and Mars, it's up to a small but determined group of E-Frame pilots with the help of the Exofleet to take back Earth from the martian despot.

By the end of season 2 of this series, the Neosapiens are defeated and the homeworlds liberated. At the end of the season, there was a cliffhanger suggesting that a new threat from another alien race was coming and that the Neosapiens would have to work with the human race against this new threat.

This never happened for the series was cancelled.

'Pirates of Dark Water'

Pirates of Dark Water

Taking place on the alien world of Mer, the planet is threatened by a menace known as Dark Water (hence the title) and a young prince named Ren is tasked with destroying the Dark Water.

Along the way he makes friends with the ecomancer Tula, the monkey-bird Niddler, and the treasure hungry Pirate Ioz.

On the quest to find the the Thirteen Treasures of Rule to fight back the Dark Water, the evil pirate lord Bloth would move mountains to claim the treasures for himself. The Dark Dweller who is responsible for unleashing the Dark Water also plans to stop Ren and his comrades from getting the Thirteen Treasures.

The series was never completed for some reason and only eight of the thirteen treasures were found.

Two video games were released for the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo, where hopefully the world of Mer was saved.

'Solar Man'

Released in 1988 but aired in 1992 as a special on Fox kids before the debut of the X-Men animated series. The studio behind the cartoon was offered $64 million to make 64 episodes of the series, but backed out due to the fact that their consultants stupidly believed that Saturday morning superhero cartoons would die out.

'Mummies Alive'

Enchanted America

Taking place in the late 1990s, a young boy named Presley Carnovan finds out that he is the reincarnation of a supposedly dead Egyptian Prince named Rapses. He learns this from several mummies (Ja-Kal, Rath, Armon, and Nefer-Tina) who were bodyguards to the prince in ancient times, each having different powers from different Egyptian gods.

The series focuses on fighting the evil Immortal Sorcerer Scarab (who transforms into a scarab obviously), who wants the reincarnated prince's life force to maintain his immortality.

Unfortunately, due to low ratings, it was cancelled. There was also criticism about the series being a rip-off of Gargoyles.

Conclusion

Whether or not these shows get a remake or not, it doesn't change the fact that there were questions that needed answers and whatever the reasons for these cancellations are not good ones.

Some of us loved these shows back in the day and it was a real kick in the groin to have these shows end as they did.
