Grin And Bear It: 'Game Of Thrones' Premiere Cut R-Rated Brienne And Tormund Scene

Away from tits, incest, and the Hound dropping the C-word every two seconds, it seems that even Game of Thrones tries to draw the line at beastiality.

Game of Thrones is back and it looks like things are heating up in the Seven Kingdoms. However, it isn't just flaming dragons that are smoking in the world of Westeros, the sexual tension between Brienne of Tarth and Tormund Giantsbane is a scorching mess of burning loins. Forget the Lannister romance or Jon meeting Dany, the possibility of "Brimund" is the only romance anyone is talking about — well, we would be if showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss put them together.

Much to the approval of audiences everywhere, HBO's raunchy fantasy can get a little "blue" at times. Away from tits, incest, and the Hound dropping the C-word every two seconds, it seems that even #GameofThrones tries to draw the line at beastiality.

Bear with me.

Speaking to Insider, the premiere's director, Jeremy Podeswa, revealed that he cut an R-rated conversation between two of the show's favorite characters. As we saw #GwendolineChristie's formidable Brienne of Tarth raining the "Payne" on her squire Podrick Payne, their session was interrupted by the bushy beard of Tormund. While we never hear what made the Lady from Tarth shake her head and turn away in disgust, Podeswa told us that it was originally supposed to be part of the episode:

"Actually there was a little bit of improvisation there, because Sansa and Littlefinger are watching them from up on the walkway, and so we just shot [Tormund and Brienne] ad-libbing a bunch of conversations down below,"

It is here that he cut what sounds like a truly amazing scene that could've gone down in the history of #GameofThrones comedy gold:

"There is one thing that they scripted and they riffed on that, which is Tormund says something about his relationship with Sheila the Bear. And nobody knows what that means or what that's all about, so that's meant to make Brienne look at him askance. He's either trying to shock her or he's just oblivious that he's saying something that's crazy."

Care Bear

For those who are still scratching their heads — or may have just blocked it out — the reference to Sheila goes way back to Season 4. If you remember, Tormund was recounting a night of passion to his Wildling friends, and things got a little hot around the campfire:

"Oh, that was a night to remember. Of course, I'd had a good bit to drink. Her fangs were sharp, but she knew how to use them. And she was nice and soft down below. No, she was no ordinary beast."

Even though Tormund has the unofficial title of Husband to Bears in the books, there are rumors that the "bear" he is famous for bedding could actually be Lady Maege Mormont of Bear Island. Flame-haired Ygritte certainly didn't believe the braggart and we don't know if we do either. However, if Tormund really is a bear f*cker, Thrones could have the RSPCA on the phone.

The "Brimund" romance has been brewing since they met at Castle Black, but both Christie and #KristoferHivju have denied that wedding bells will be chiming over Winterfell. Personally, I could watch a whole spin-off about Brienne the Beauty and her Wild Thing Wildling, but with showrunners already reducing their screen time, and with Tormund off to Eastwatch-by-the-Sea, maybe it just isn't meant to be.

In the meantime, at least we can enjoy what the Sheila romance could be like. Hivju seems to be just as off his rocker as his Thrones counterpart, taking to Instagram to act out how he would like the story to go through the use of dolls. If you though f*cking a bear was weird enough in your own imagination, you ain't seen nothing yet!
